I told no one but my wife and that was because I had too, did not tell my kids, family members or friends. I know exactly how you feel.

my mum brother and dad knew about the surgery. well of course they had to know, im 17 and live at home.

i asked them if they wouldn't tell any1 else. and they agreed.

but my mum told 2 of my unties and 1 of her closest friends.
she told them they r not aloud to tell any1 tho.

im not angry about that though, afterall my mum paid for the surgery and looked after me in pre and post surgery.

I would've lost it if I were in the same position.

No offense dude but that was a pretty dic.k move of your mom to tell you she'll keep it a secret than go and tell everyone. Of course the aunts/friend will spread the word, if your mom couldn't why would they.

Nothing personal against your mom, just saying how I'd react to it.

NZWELLY, I dont know how you got over the fact your mom told her friends. I mean if your mom couln't hold in the secret, I doubt her friends and sisters can. Better hope word doesn't spread like the swine flu. But if you can deal with it, then good for you.
If you have gyne, dont expect not be laughed at.

Just like if you walk into a locker room, you're gonna see some hairy asses and dicks.

Unfortunately for me, both have occured in my life way too many times.

I would have been extraordinarily pissed off at that. I don't think I could see past it.

That's the reason I'm not telling my own mother: she has a big mouth, and would probably blather to someone about it.

I'm paying for it myself - I worked a long time to save up for it.
Surgery completed. Mission accomplished!

I told my father because he was the one who helped me pay for the surgery and he was extremely supportive. He took me to the operation and drove me home. I just told my mom that I cracked a rib and needed to wear a compression binder for a few weeks and she never questioned it. I told my girlfriend that I had to have surgery for something but I was very vague about it and she never really questioned it. I don't think she ever even noticed my gynecomastia, I was extremely good at hiding it (aren't we all...?)... so at this point she won't even know the difference, she'll just think I always looked this way.

Haven't told any of my friends. A few of my friends I just made up a bullshit excuse about my rib being cracked or having some sort of lump on my side that I needed removed. I don't think any of them will ever know what I really had done. I was so good at hiding it over the years and avoiding situations where it'd be noticeable... nobody ever even said anything to me about it. I honestly don't think my friends ever realized it because I was so good at hiding it. My friends aren't the kind of people who would just not say anything out of good nature, either. As a teen, they absolutely would have poked fun at me if they knew.. just like I probably would have if it were the other way around because when you're young, you're insensitive and you don't realize how much of a psychological effect these things can have on you.

Bottom line.. if you give yourself the time and the means.. you don't ever really have to tell anyone, and no one will ever notice once you're healed.

Dude I_Dont_Know, that's the same excuse I've been saying to my cousins and friends, cracked ribs haha. And you're right about being a teen, some shit seems funny but can be very, damaging.

I stay at the clinic overnight, too expensive. I wont see my wife for over 2 weeks, I dont think she will notice. I once had a beard for the longest time. I shaved it off and she never noticed. I guess the honeymoon is over

I don't blame you for not wanting to tell anyone, it's embarassing.  If you are doing this while your wife is out of town, isn't there some one on here that is close to your location that can take you home on the first day???  We have / are all going through the same thing.  I thought this was a support network here.  Just a suggestion.

Dude, I don't want to sound rude but... sounds like she may be cheating on you.

I held it in for almost 16 years. I only started talking about it after I had lipo and realized it probably wasn't going to be enough. I should have gotten an excision on top of the lipo but.....whoops. I started off talking about it on here. In order to finally talk to my mom about it I sent her a link to a post I made on this website. I am not talking to my dad about it because I just really don't think he would understand....I don't know why though...
I desperatly hope that my mom will help me with an excision. She didn't tell me she would though when I finally talked to her about it (that was last night). She wants me to wait for all the swelling to go down from my lipo first. Unfortunatly I can tell that the lipo alone isn't going to be enough.

I only told my wife. I'd kept quiet about how much it bothered me until she started talking about wanting implants. I never thought she'd be okay with me spending the money on my gyne surgery. She was completely supportive and knows how to keep quiet if asked. It woud've been doable, but very difficult without her the first post-op day (I had lipo only). After that I was completely fine alone.

May I ask why it would have been so difficult without her? Physically was it difficult to look after yourself or what?

I told two of my mates, my uncle & my parents lol...

But the way I dropped it to them, it didn't sound as serious so no one even made a big deal about it, I made it aware to them that its a common problem and that im not happy with my chest, and previously being obese and losing a lot of weight I told them my chest didn't dissapear after sorting my body out etc so Im gonna sort it out via gland excision ...

I DIDNT SAY IM GETTING 'GYNE-COMAS-TIA' SURGERY, for some reason that word alone just sounds over the top ... where as gland excision just sounds basic and more acceptable for some reason.

I Dunno, i suppose its the way you are as an individual ... everyone always knew me as a joker, so I was able to tell them, in a way like 'who cares if I have surgery' ... I don't find it big deal, so why should you? if anything im confiding in you guys by telling you this.

BUT REALISTICALLY, the reason why I told everyone is because I was sh!ttin myself ... going under a knife is always daunting.

So, as I have found out, almost everyone has told someone.

I haven't told a single person, and that's how it will stay.
