My surgeon said I have such a light case that I won't need a compression vest.  He said I can use one if I want to, but he said just some tight under armor would be enough.  Does this sound ok?  He says in some cases he uses the vests if it is a bad case, but with mine the under armor will give plenty of compression

I would recommend a vest. That's just me...but I say, "better safe than sorry". I don't care how "mild" of a case it is. My case was very mild, and Bermant couldn't stress the vest enough, especially for the first 7 days. Other doctors that I have personally spoken with highly recommended a vest.

He said that there could be a vest if I wanted one.  He just had said that the under armor would do the exact same thing as the vest would and provide the same amount of pressure.   He said the vests are expensive and not comfortable for most guys to wear.

I don't know what the "under armor" is...As long as it will provide CONSTANT pressure, then you should be OK.

I saw a surgeon today, and he also said that I would not need a vest after the op.

He said, that he found that after 4 weeks, the results were generally the same with his patients, and that not wearing the vest would alleviate the soreness and bruising.

Under Armor is a type of spandex workout clothing that is really tight on your skin.  If you get a size smaller than what you normally wear it would suck really tight up agianst your body and provide lots of pressure.

I think this depends on how extensive the surgery is. after gland excession, especially if a flap is done, you tend to get soft tissue swelling plus some bleeding and leaking lymph vessels which all together although essential for the healing process, if excessive, may slow it down. vests tend to minimize this together with the other known benefits. REMEMBER if you decide to use one the surgeon has to know about it because if you use too tight one this might compromise the blood supply to the tissue and cause serious problems. good luck.
