Hello, first of all thanks for viewing my post. I have had gynecomastia for quite some time now. I developed it originally when I was about nine or ten. It started in one then later it developed under the other nipple. I am 20 years old now and I still suffer from this condition. As one could predict, It has been surprisingly damaging on my social life and self esteem as a teen, and continues to as an adult. My parents convinced me it was simply a cyst and wasn't a big deal. I was also told it would fix it's self in a few years. The problem never went away but only got worse. My chest continued to grow and my nipples became large and puffy. I am 5'8'' and I weight 125lbs so I am not overweight what so ever. Iv kinda just pushed it in the back of my mind all these years but now I finally can't take it anymore. I want to avoid surgery at all cost. I can't afford it and I don't want to suffer from any negative effects from it, and the idea just creeps me out. After doing some research on my own, I came to a conclusion that my gynecomastia was triggered by a hormone imbalance. I'm 20 and still can't grow any facial hair besides patchy stubble, I have suffered from acne since I was in middle school, and still do although it has improved slightly in recent years in comparison to before. Lately I have had trouble becoming erect during sexual intercourse. I don't know if this is from physiological reasons from my lack of confidence and embarrassment of my body, or something hormonal.  I don't have heath insurance and have not seen a doctor since I was a kid. After years of little guidance i've finally decided to take a step forward in trying to find a cure. What Kind of doctor should I go to? What are any possible treatments he or she will be able to recommend? What are the general cost of these medications if any. Iv already began seriously going to the gym and eating healthy but I need to find a way to achieve result relatively quick. Please if you have any useful info I would really love to hear it. Thanks for your time. -Joel

Gynecomastia is not a 'fat persons' condition dude. In fact, for many, G is the reason why they are obese.

Congrats for taking the first step to the 'Other Side'...  ;)

Since you have had your G for 10+ years now, I highly doubt that an Endocrinologist would benefit you now. What you need is a Plastic Surgeon my man. Surgical reduction is the only way to rid yourself of the 'Curse'. No amount of exercise/diet, herbal remedies or miracle cures will fix you.

If you have not seen a Dr. since childhood, a good overall Physical Exam would be a good Idea.

Impotence can be caused by many things, your emptional state can be very important. But it is best not to jump to conclusions.

There are no miracle medications that will magically make it go away.  Let's get that out of the way first before someone tries to talk you into blowing money on pills.  However, a hormonal imbalance could be remedied properly by a doctor and possibly help.

Where are you located?  That would be the first variable to consider for surgery.  Fortunately, there are people from all over on this site that could recommend someone in your city or reasonably close.  Expect it to cost around $3k - 7k, depending on the Dr., what procedures you have done, etc . . .

Your health insurance will most likely not cover the procedure as it's generally considered elective (if you're in the US that is).

I can tell you that I had signs of gyne by age 10 myself.  While I've never had any facial hair or erectile issues, the gyne never went away.  I wasn't real happy about having surgery either, but now that's over, I'm never looking back.   As of today, I am 6 weeks post op.  My chest isn't the ideal way I want it to look right now, but it's gonna keep getting better.  For the first time since I was a little boy, I went to a pool party last Friday and was not self conscience...and this was a pool party at the Palms Casino here in Las Vegas..tons of hot women everywhere.  This surgery really has changed my life.

i got quoted for surgery for 2700 dollars. I Live in VA anyone know any good doctors? I think I get really self conscious about my body and it makes me lose my erection. I don't mind the size of my chest i mostly just hate the way it makes my nipples look when their not cold. Iv decided I'm going to get the surgery even though it will take a chunk out of my college savings..  My question now is for those who have had surgery.. the main thing im worried about is my nipples not looking normal after. will the puffyness go away after the surgery? I understand that working out my chest will be beneficial but is it really worth the risk? I really don' want droopy  not centered abnormal looking nipples. And how long is the recovery? the doctor told me their is a risk of losing nipple sensation? what do you guys know about that?

the doctor told me my case what somewhat mild and really have no problems hiding it when I wear the right color clothes.  like I said i'm pretty small and literally have no excess body fat. can anyone say that they are 100% satisfied with their surgery? In fact some girls actually find my body MORE attractive cause it looks like i have a ripped chest but little do they know their is no muscle..and when my nipples get puffy it just starts looking weird...its more of a personal problem for me than a social problem but please post surgery people give me some input before I go through with this.
