Post sugery swelling

I had surgery done to remove the gland from both sides of my chest on friday. Friday night i had unbearable pain oing to bed so i went to the doctor to getit checked theyremoved the left side of the pressure bandage and ithad swollen alot. I seen it and it looked even bigger than before i had the surgery done. Very puffy and looked very pointed out. The nurse put another bandage on and told me to come back the next morning to see a specialist that deals with this kind of surgery. I went to the hospital the next morning and she took it off and looked atit again said it was a perfect incision and was normal for the swelling and that it often looks worse than before you even had the surgery done laughed about it and got the nurse to put an extra tight bandage on the left this time. I came home and rested for the whole day again. My question is did anybody have any similar swelling? Did they look more puffed out and bigger than before you even had the surgery done? Is this a normal part of the healing process?

I'd experienced swelling after the surgery. I'm sure everybody does here. But puffy nipples after the surgery, i dont think so. Maybe you really had a severe swelling there. Well, its not too late dude.. just give it a rest and wait. Be patient.. =)

wrong. there are dozens of threads on this forum from people experiencing puffiness after surgery. Supposedly, it's part of the healing process with some people... including me

Yes, could be scar tissue (at least that's what people say it is). The other unfortunate could be gland left behind

Had my glands removed on tuesday,  have swelling that exceeds the size of my breasts before surgery but luckily there is no puffy nipples..(had what many would consider a mild case) i just assume this to be a normal part of the process. i hope.
I kept this on the quiet except for my bro who picked me up and yesterday my covers band called my to say we are playin a gig next fri...oh oh. any of you guys recken this is sensible 10 days after surgery? iam playin bass and will make up an excuse not to carry heavy stuff

i dont think so dude. 10 days post op is still critical. Should give it a rest till 3-4 weeks before you put it on an active mode.
Swelling is normal. And sometimes it looks much bigger that pre op.
And take note that puffiness of the nipple might also occur within such period
so dont be so confident about that.
I would like to correct my recent post here regarding puffy nipple because it seems that I am now a member of that group. I guess its the scar tissue.

Like Jopet says; don't be too sure about the nipples not being puffy.
Mine were perfect until 2 weeks post op. Don't want to dissapoint you but you need to realize that there is a chance that they will come back (even though the glands are gone). If all goes well they will become flatter in the months after that. Might take a full year even...
Scar tissue is a bitch, and it takes time to heal completely.

OT: take it easy the first weeks. I had surgery July8th and I only started feeling comfortable enough to work out etc. 6 weeks post op. 10 days after the op (like you), I wasn't even thinking of doing anything that required energy or lots of movement.
