I'm considering booking for surgery with Dr Mario Russo for next month. Anyone had any experience with him? I was pleased with the consultation - I need to have glands removed - but after reading this forum realise I may not have done much investigating into the choice of surgeon as I could have.

Any feedback greatly appreciated. It's a difficult decision!!!

Sorry, never heard of the group or surgeon.

In my view, this isnt something you should skimp or take a risk on so I personally wouldnt go with the group you've mentioned. Did he show you pics of previous patients? How much will it cost and what is the aftercare procedure? How does he excise the gland, whats the incison site, does he do lipo?

These are all things you should consider before going with the op.

The hospital group is well known and the surgeon you mention is meant to be their lead surgeon? - according to their (slightly tacky) website.

I would ask plenty of questions about how he does the operation (gland removal, lipo, combination of both?), how many he does and what the complication / satisfaction rate is like.  Also make sure to find out what their policy on revision fees is like should the outcome not be perfect first time around.

Personally if I was going to go with the hospital group I would go to Dolan park and see Levick for a consultation.

Thanks for the replies.

Well, he said I just need to have gland removal as I have no fat, all gland. We talked about the incision....a half moon incision around the bottom of the areola. I didn't ask about complication / satisfaction rate although he said he does a couple of procedures a month. He does loads of breast implants on woman, so I guess that's a good thing??

Consultation was free and the procedure is £3000, which seems fairly reasonable from some of the other posts I've seen? It's at the top range of what I can afford, and although it seems as though Karidis is the one to go for, £5k is just too expensive for me.

I have a consultation with The Private Clinic tomorrow so will see how they go...I now have an idea of the types of questions I should be asking in any case....

breast implants are cutting them open and stuffing silicone in, breast reduction (especially in men) is a completley different ball game which is why there are so few gyne specialists in the UK.If you cant afford karidis (which id reccomend) youd be way better off paying an extra £900 and going to Paul Levick. The fact that hes saying that you need no lipo at all is a bit worrying to me even the lads with minor cases have a small bit of lipo

dont chance it go to the only two decent blokes in the UK
Karidis or Levick

i wouldnt reccomend anyone else, because if yet to see a decent result from anyone else!

OK I was bit worried when he said I wouldn't need any lypo either...thanks for the advice man. More questions to ask at my second consultation today, but think I may need to seriously consider Karidis now.

Just be sure to ask loads of questions and go with your instincts.   Not everyone needs lipo, but most guys have a combination of lipo and excison of gland.   It depends really, I would want to know about the revision charges just incase.... most decent places offer free revision if the first result is not as expected or if there are complications.
