Hi I trained for a couple of years after having a very skinny frame I built up a large amount of chest muscle.
Unfortunately I was forced to give up training suddenly and now that muscle has changed pretty quickly into fat leaving a not so great appearance.  I've tried training now to get rid of this but nothing works. Can this be got rid of by exercise alone?

The concept of "muscle turning to fat" is sort of like alchemy of the past where non-prescious metals were turned to gold.  Muscle will atrophy if it's no longer trained, and the overlying fatty tissue may increase in volume while the underlying muscle decreases in volume, but the muscle doesn't turn into fat.  Diet and training will build and tone the muscle while decreasing the overlying fat, so yes, exercise can help.  But if you have gynecomastia, diet and exercise will not get rid of that.

Good luck.
