You appear to have mild gynecomastia, and yes, what you're feeling underneath your areola is gland.  The condition usually goes away in young boys, but at 20 years of age, it's not likely that the condition will go away, even with exercise and weight loss.  The only real option for you is the same as most of us here.....surgery.

The condition usually does not go away by itself i personally have never heard of seen a of a case in which real Gynecomastia goes away, Of course if your fat and you call your moods Gynecomastia and then you loose weight of course they will go away but if its Genuine Gyno then no the only option is surgery.

I had Gyno since around 12 years old and was always told it will go away as you get older by the doctor. It didnt :D In fact it grew.
