Rate from 4 to 10? Um did you mean 1 to 10?
On that scale, i'd rate it about a 3. Since you're overweight, and your nipples aren't really puffy at all, I think that once you've lost some weight, it won't be that bad.

Welcome to gyne.org, deserteagle.

You appear to have mild gynecomastia, and yes, what you're feeling underneath your areola is gland.  The condition usually goes away in young boys, but at 20 years of age, it's not likely that the condition will go away, even with exercise and weight loss.  The only real option for you is the same as most of us here.....surgery.

If the condition really bothers you to the point of making you very unhappy and starts interfering with your ability to enjoy life (for instance, you avoid situations where you might have to take your shirt off in public), then you should think about getting it corrected.  You've got a long life ahead of you and you don't want to have to worry about taking your shirt off or someone simply seeing your chest.

If you choose surgery, try to find the most experienced gynecomastia plastic surgeon you can; one who performs several of these operations each month/year.  The best chance to get the results you want is with the first surgery.

Ask to see before and after pictures from the surgeons you visit, because that will help you make your decision on the surgeon you trust the most to do the job you want.  If you don't like the looks of the pictures, don't use that surgeon!

Also, don't automatically choose the cheapest surgeon.  This is your body you're talking about and you want the best surgeon possible.  As anything else, you usually get what you pay for.

Until surgery, try compression shirts, as they work quite well and make the condition easier to live with until you can get it corrected.

Good luck!

In my opinion you definatley have moderate gyne, to be honest your gyne looks quite similar to how mine used to look (although my pics dont show it very well)

I suffered from being overweight and fluxuated between many waist sizes but ultimatley the surgery is the only fix, if it bothers you dont let it hold you back get it done if you can afford it!

I agree with theTodd.  Moderate gyne maybe 4 out of 10 if that means anything.  Might want to try shedding some pounds to see if it leaves you with a result you can live with, and if not, then consider surgery?  Good luck!

I wouldnt even bother going back for hormonal tests especially if your going to be charged, id just look into getting a surgeon!

Hormonal treatments may have been beneficial when you first saw signs of it, but after two years the gland is formed and the only option excision

It's hard to say not knowing how your medical system works.  If you go to a regular doctor and he confirms you have gyne, can you get the surgery for reduced cost or free?  If so, then you may want to stay with this option before going to see a specialist.  But if not, then you may be better off seeing a surgeon who has LOTS of experience with gyne surgery.  He/she can decide if you need to see an endocrinologist (spelling?) and get hormonal testing.

But if you need to save money for gyne surgery, I would first try a heavy cardio based exercise program (lots of running) with the goal of losing a bunch of weight.  This is your cheapest option and may be worth trying before exploring surgery.  Especially if you need time to save up money.

In my country we have public health care (I called there and they said queues takes time and next visit time would be on 18th of May) and private health care which is also (partially) subvented by society so I chose it because I got visit time for next day.

If regular or private doctor confirm I have gynecomasty he can give me referral to (public health care) specialist doctor (this might take couple months) who will put me to mammography first and then I need to wait for a letter which confirms my surgery time (this might take like half an year) so the whole process could take over like one year. And that's definitely too long time to wait. Public surgery fee is around 100-200 euros.

I have spent some money so I could pay private surgery right now (1100 euros).

Ahh, okay.  Then maybe go straight to finding a surgeon who is very experienced in gyne for a consultation.  Even if you're looking for options other than surgery (state that) he/she may be able to help (i.e., advise if exercise may be a solution, recommend endo specialist, etc.).  Good luck!

What country are you in?

Its not about the speed, you need to guarantee you are going to see a surgeon who specialises in gyne surgery. 1100 sounds like a very reasonable price similar to the prices that are on offer in Poland

You do have gyne, there isnt really much question there you just need to find a decent surgeon so your not left with scars!

You need excision, any surgeon that says you dont is a quack

If there doing it under local then its going to just be lipo id imagine, you must insist that you have lipo+excision or its a waste of time seriously

Sorry yeah its partial removal of the gland, and this is where youve got to be a bit carefull

you dont want FULL removal of the gland which some surgeons may reccomend . You want them to reduce it to about 1% of its orignal size. There will be places near you that do this id imagine because loads of british people travel to estonia etc to get it done

Having the whole gland removed will just leave you looking really weird, there are some pics on here with lads who've had a really bad case and theyve done it it just looks terrible in my opinion

All i will say is, the clnic will praise the surgeons make sure you see some before/after pics your lucky because surgery is way cheaper in eastern europe but theres also a lot less regulations so you tend to get a few crooks. Just do your research
