Hi, I wouldn't stress too much at the moment as probably worth letting things settle for a while. It does say in K's info that there is the yo-yo effect and could take up to 9 months in total for everything to settle down. I think you are doing the right thing by keeping a photographic record of your development and you can look back on it overtime and see if you are happy with the outcome. Also I would say that you should be pleased so far as there appears to be no nipple scarring or skin creases. Have you had your 6 weeks follow up examination with K and discussed any worries with him? However I would guess he would advise you to let things settle for a while  ;)

Oops sorry kieran_22 just noticed your op was with Levick, I would guess the advice still stands in terms of letting things settle. Does Levick offer a standard post op review after 6 weeks or so?

You're a little swollen, but its to be expected sometimes, everyone responds differently to healing. I think you just need to give it time.

You have to think, the gland and fat has been removed which is the main thing. Anything in your chest now is something that will go over time, whether its swelling/fluid, or scar tissues. Everyone says the recovery is like a roller-coaster.

I think it's an alright job Kieren, I think you are just going through that rough patch that starts anywhere from 3 weeks and can't last up to 12 weeks +, where the chest changes weekly. Don't be shocked if the swelling comes down and it starts to look good and then the following week the swelling is back and it's looking shit again.
Just pushing that build up fluid away from the area and helping it find new ways of draining away and you will notice as soon as you have finished massaging your chest looks pukka and a few hours later the fluid will have gradually built back up. I'm 4.5 months post op and the last of my swelling is on its way out, just a few more weeks and it should be gone. Some folks react worse to the swelling and bruising and scar tissue then others, but it all goes down in the end, the only thing that could annoy you is scar tissue, but even there you are home and dry as Levick offers free jabs for scar tissue!
I don't think I will need any jabs for scar tissue as so much of it is just going on its own accord if i'm honest.

Patience is king. I'll bet in a few weeks time you will be happier then you are now and a few weeks after that you will be happier still....hold tight, it will sort itself in the end.

That last post really cheered me up mate, big time!

I'll stick with being patient and begin to do some harder work on losing my fat...really looking forward to summer next year...bring it on.

In relation to massage, how am I supposed to go about it? Are there particular ways of doing it? And I'm guessing it's ok to start now?

I can't remember when i started massage, i was always paying extra attention when i was in the shower from day 1 post op, i would spend a good 5 minutes lightly going all around my chest with the scrubber Karidis gives his patients and i moved onto using my hands and oil in the evenings once that pain had subsided and it felt ok, i would just gently rub the oil into my chest in a circular motion not using much force as it wasn't too comfortable at first and just gradually built it up as the pain subsided over the coming weeks. I don't have any pain in my chest and can go hell for leather massaging it now.

Agree with chopper mate, give it time. Like he said everyone reacts differently to surgery and i think ur body has reacted by swelling, which will take time to come down.

THink I started massage at 6 weeks mate.

Yeah keep us posted mate.

Is it just me, or does it seem Levick people have more swelling post op than Karadis people? This may be a generalisation but they do use different techniques. (karadis removes gland from under nipple, levick removes via armpit incision)

I just wonder if Levicks method brings out a bit more swelling. I might be babbling, and i'm probably wrong, but it was just something i was thinking about.

Nah, no real reduction in swelling...very depressing.

Will be interesting to see what Mr. Levick has to say tomorrow - in all honesty I'm feeling like I'm just down £4000 or so and am not much better than I was pre-op - it's very slight if anything....

I really didn't wanna be one of these moany stories on here - sorry lads :(

Chin up mate, can only get better from here on in.

Are you seeing any changes in your chest at all? I know mine seems to be improving now I've started massaging in the shower. Also looks better when I've just taken the compression vest off in the morning.

Good luck with tommorow anyhow, let us know what Mr Levick says.

Just remember, in the first pics youve took them with your arms up and the post set there down

I think its could be swelling, but this is where you benefit with levick because you have basically got room for revision. Just be honest with him on what you were expecting and what youve seen on the boards.
