Going for surgery Thur.  Pretty nervous!!  Doc said he was going to use twilight instead of knocking me out all the way.  Anyone have any experience with twilight?  Also...with the surgery on Thursday, how long and how much pain do you expect I will be in based on your past experience?  Had tonsils taken out a few months ago and that left me in bed for over a week!!  Any chance I will go back to work on Monday at a desk?  Thanks in advance!!

My son who is 13 had surgery on the 15th of December.  He had general anesthesia instead of twilight so I have no experience with that but I can tell you he did great.  He wanted to know if he could have pizza while still in recovery.  He had little pain but really could not get comfortable the first couple of nights due to having to sleep at a 90 degree angle and the drains made it uncomfortable,  the next day he did eat pizza and started feeling pretty good.  The second day we went out for a short while to see some of the sites and of course eat,  He is a growing boy!!!!  He stopped taking his pain pills by the end of the second day and only took Tylenol.  He was able to stop tylenol on the 5th day.  I will tell you the drain removal was the worst.  But, he is 13 and he got through it all.  He was scared! I was scared,  but it all was good.  We would do it again in a heartbeat.  He looks and feels fantastic!  If you have any questions just ask,

Good Luck!  You will do great!

Don't sweat it man, it will be over before you know it.

I too had the pre-surgery jitters, and up until the last minute, I was thinking of any and every reason to back out.  As soon as the they put the ivy in my arm, I was already waking back up.  It was really weird and seemed to be but a brief couple of seconds.  Point being, you'll be fine, and it will go smooth.

Best of luck to you.  The first day recovery was probably the thing that was most troubling.  Just have those pain meds nearby and some movies rented.

As for work on Monday, I think you should be alright.  By Saturday you should feel much better and by Monday you should feel great.  I had my surgery on a Wednesday and was back at work on Monday.

Thanks Morpheus!  You're exactly right in thinking of reasons to back out.  I won't...but they were in my mind!!!  Thanks again!!!
