I was told by a gynecomastia specializing doctor that because of low bodyfat and that my condition isn't from puberty, I would only need gland extraction, no lipo needed. However, I have been researching and have found some people were left with craters after having just gland removal and no lipo.

Any doctor input?

Thanks

I have had numerous slender patients with apparent gland just under the areola.  When only gland excision is performed, the areolar skin has nowhere to go and so it usually develops some scar tissue immediately below it.  The result is usually a residual puffy nipple, which sometimes resembles the original problem.

The best treatment is gland excision plus some undermining of the surrounding, normal appearing skin so that the skin of the entire chest, including the areola, are able to tighten up, re-drape and re-distribute.  The undermining can be performed with scissor dissection or with a liposuction cannula without the suction turned on.  If there is residual surrounding fat, then the suction can be turned on and the fat removed.

IMHO, this is the best way to go.
