Yeh - I asked if I could take valium & beta-blockers (I take either or both sometimes for panic attack/anxiety) - he said 'yes - just do what you want - just tell the anaesthetist what you have taken'.

I was really chilled because I had not taken any meds for a while anticipating that I should not do so for 1 week+ prior to the operation.

Its entirely possible that the anaesthetist used something to counteract the valium just before I was asleep; I remember 3 or more syringes into the line.....

If your worried just tell them. Ask 5 or 10mg valium - that should make you feel great.
