How long do you wear a vest after surgery?

I'm thinking about maybe getting it this winter but I need to know how long I have to wear a vest because my winter vacations are only 2 weeks. Sorry if this is a redundant question but I tried to find the answer before making this topic.

My Doctor said that After The surgery its great to have the vest till the "stinges?" are removed and the swelling is down, sry for my bad english. And thats about one week. He also told me that if you dont use a vest you can use a very tight shirt so you can use that if your 2 weeks been past.
