Anyone run into issues at an airport with underwires?

I went to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis and they have TSA like security and I was wearing my Soma Stunning Support No Show Minimizer.  No issues, didn't' set off the metal detector either.

But wonder if the TSA is setup more sensitive or not, and what would the body scanners show, as there is more mass around the chest as well as the wire.

I've been wearing an underwire along time now and I've been made dozens of times.  But things are much better with the new X ray scanner.  They already were looking at my breasts in the scanner, I certainly don't care if they see my underwire bra. I have also set off the metal detector with my underwire (38E) and then they have to wand me and find the underwire around my chest and I then have to explain why I'm wearing a bra and make my flight. Now I give myself an additional half hour to get through security. I have read in other posts where a man in a bra was pulled aside and was examined.

I haven't flown in years so it hasn't been an issue, but you never know when it might be needed....

When Debbie and went to the airport to see my daughter off after she graduated Navy boot camp at Great Lakes, I went through the scanner, then the pat down, but they still had to fell up under my breast because they are to large to see with the scanner! The guy doing it apologize for having to do it but I said it was ok and that I understood.

I still don't want to do any flying and Debbie understands now after that! My power wheelchair even took a long time to get through security as well!

I was wondering how it would go.  When my wife flew last I went through TSA with her (she has eyesight disorder) and didn't have any issues, but I also had a plastic underwire bra on, they were more intersted in my 9v battery flashlight (w w w.9voltlight.com/), they didn't like a battery at all, but when they saw what it was, they thought it was cool.

If you are male and wearing a bra going to a USA airport with body scanner, expect to get patted down- I have on numerous occasions as I travel a lot. Not an issue for metal detectors, but you have little choice in most airports anymore.  It isn't enough that you show breast tissue in the scan, you will get special attention as a male.
While most of the agents are nice and apoligatic, you may be unlucky enough to find the odd ball or newbie that makes a bigger issue of this than should happen.
I posed the question in past postings why this is not normal for a female, but is for a male and didn't get a good answer. I am sure it fits into the same box of why we can't profile travelers in this country as is done sucessfully in many other countrys that deal with security issues, but in a way I believe that this issue is just that?
Bottom line, if you are not comfortable with the extra attention and pat down, carry your bra in carry on and stop in restroom after security to finish dressing for your trip- that is our world today!

Yes - I refuse on almost every occasion to go through their scanner, so I self select for the pat down. Therefore, I carry my bra in my carryon or laptop bag and change in the bathroom.

As amazing as what minutia they might catch is what they are likely to miss. I was working in So. Cal. but had to bee in Reno for a meeting. I passed through security at LAX and got taken out of line because I had a small wrench in my shirt pocket. When I discovered the wrench they went ahead and allowed me to pass. Later that evening when I went to board at Reno for the return flight, I found that there was a paring knife in the same pocket that LAX had failed to find. Embarrassed, I donated it.

I worry more about laptop and cell phone batteries than I do a knife, they can do far more damage than a knife can.  I went through with an exacto knife and it was sitting in a seam in my laptop bag, I didn't even know it was there till I got home.

Don't have the underwire problem (yet) but was concerned when I first got my malleable penile implant about 12 years ago.  It has a stainless steel wire core and I was concerned that it would set off the metal detectors.  12 years later and it has never happened.

My two knee replacements can't get by anything without setting off the alarms, and that little card the hospital gives you saying you have prosthetic knees don't mean shit, they still need to do everything to make sure you don't have something else!

The day they wand my crotch in public and the alarm goes off is the last day that I will fly.
