Will it get worse before it gets better?  Will swelling increase over the next few weeks, or does the worst happen within the first couple of days?

It will very on each person! You will have swelling and possibly scare tissue. The big thing the remember is it can take several months to see the final finished look that you will have! Your body has to recover from this now and you need to be patient and give it the time it needs to do so.
