How long after surgery you can have sex?

I allow patients to resume "cardio" after a week, and as long as there are no major acrobatics involved, some sexual activity is okay at that point as well.  I know that some patients probably get busy a little sooner than that, and one recent patient who had bleeding the day after surgery let it slip that he had sex. My instructions for the first week are that patients avoid anything that causes a raise in heart rate or blood pressure, and sexual activity has that effect, so it's not a good idea. That said, you should speak to your surgeon for his or her recommendations, since he or she will know the extent and nature of your procedure and be able to guide you specifically.

I had a similar experience with a patient.  Two weeks post surgery, he had a "threesome" -- and the result was a hematoma that required surgical intervention.

My general rule after gynecomastia surgery:  avoid anything that raises your heart rate and makes you sweat for at least a few weeks -- and that includes sex.  And then, when you resume sex, allow your partner to do much of the work.

I don't allow exercise until two weeks after surgery and weights at three weeks after surgery.
