I am almost three years post op, having been grade IV prior to this. I elected to have my nipples removed during surgery, mainly as surgery is risky for me due to other bleeding issues.
The scars have almost gone (Mr John Palmer Exeter - excellent surgeon) and I am considering tattoos as replacement nipples. Am I just being vain? All I ever wanted was to be able to wear a T shirt anyway...
Has anyone had tattooed nipples? How did it work out?
Thanks

This is very interesting, Are you in the UK? I don't have an answer to your question but what is interesting is that you found a plastic surgeon that would take off the nipples. You had a good reason for that but it seems like that surgery would be much simpler than trying to position the nipples. I am interested in surgery that simply removes the breasts (like they do in women with breast cancer) without that much regard for the aesthetics. Will USA plastic surgeons do this?

Sharky, how has life been without them? I am saving up for surgery and am thinking of going the route as u did. Just take them off, rather than grafting them. I'm thinking of something like 3d fishhooks piercing the skin where the nipples would be. Or bullet holes, or maybe just a full chest piece......surgery first tho.

There are specialist medical tattoo artists who do remarkably realistic (3D effect) nipple tattoos.  Not every tattoo person can do this.  Since this is totally elective, do your research carefully and ask to see some examples of their work.  These artists have helped many women who have had mastectomy for breast cancer, breast reconstruction and then the final touch is a very realistic looking nipple tattoo.
