Long or short vest?

Hello,

I am in my first week of recovery and I am wondering if I can switch from a long vest (covering the entire torso) to a short one that just covers the chest.  Reason being that I tend to get bloated and it seems unnecessary to have abdominal compression.  

I asked the nurse and she suggested that the long one will help everything to be more uniform. Is she correct?

Same observation on my side. I asked the post op nurse and she said that she would order me a shorter one so seems all ok
