I live in an independent living facility after suffering several strokes, but unfortunately some of the residents here have severe dementia. Tonight I was in bed when I heard my door open and close and someone in my apartment. I got out of bed and asked the lady what she was doing as she rummaged through my closet. She seemed quite upset at seeing me as she was sure she was in her unit and I was in her's. It took quite a bit to convince her that she was not in her unit. She said she lives in 212, and I explained that she was in 112. 

Thankfully, I was wearing cropped short sleeved top and matching shorts that I sleep in, so I was presentable.  

Makes you realise why always wearing something presentable at all times is important.

The6 don't like our doors locked in case we need emergency services.  So I told the manager this morning.  They will go check on her to see if she is alright.

They should change that. My mother is in an assisted living facility. And they have a special lock box outside each of their doors with the spare key to their apartment. And only 3 key staff at the facility have the code to that box. Thus, you can, and are encouraged to, lock your door.
