I have a bit of a problem here. I'm supposed to have my first amatuer boxing match next year. But I'm not comfortable getting in the ring in front of a large crowd with my puffy nips.

I have an appointment with a specialist in November. I think I want to get surgery done soon after that...but what is the recovery process like?

If I was fighting in January or Feb would I be ready? And would I have swelling and scars and things like that?

And yes I am miserable.

Will you be ready for boxing?

Most report being back to normal workouts within 6 weeks.

But then again most people don't consider getting punched in the chest a "normal workout"

I agree.  Being punched in that area would be bad, I think, for long after most people report being able to work out post op.

I think you first need to choose which is more important to you...  Boxing this year, or losing the puffy nips.

Getting out of training should be easily achieved by getting a doctor's note stating that you're having surgery and can't train for X number of days.  No more details need be shared, and they can't ask because it's covered (at least in the U.S.) by privacy laws.

My friends and training partners are still gonna ask me what i'm having surgery on.

So when do you think i'll be able to compete? And will I have scars, bruises and swelling for awhile??

I'd guess at least 6 months.

scars should be minimal if PS is good.

A couple of my friends wanted to know what I was having surgery on.  I said it was to remove a couple of benign growths and not to worry.  Nobody has mentioned it since, other than to ask if the recovery is going OK.
