Has anyone had surgery in HK/China??

Yes I had surgery done in HK at Matilda a few months back.

Hi, how was the surgery?
who was your surgeon? and how much was the cost?

Surgery was ok, very quick at about 45mins for the actual procedure. Spent about 2 1/4 days in hospital though due to the drain, but what to do. Hardly any post op pain and meds not required.  The surgeon was from Hong Kong Surgical Specialists (715 Jardine House, tel:2715 4577) and the bill was about 55k (private room, non-private = cheaper). All in all a very good and trustworthy surgeon, well in my opinion anyway.
Anything else just ask.

I am a foreigner living in HK and I have just decided that I should go and have it as well?
What were all the steps that you took?
Did you go to a doctor first or just straight to that place you recommended?

Are you cantonese speaker or do the surgeons/nurses speak english? did you have to go to a general hostpital or was it all done in the surgeons facilities?

I am also a foreigner but living across the border in the mainland.
At first I went to see my usual Doc to check out the lumps (being ignorant of G at that stage) and he referred me to the specialist.  The surgeon has experience with male breast cancer and G-stia and knows what he is talking about IMHO.
You will need to check into a hospital (Matilda in my case) because the size of the mass removed will dictate if a drain is required, in my case big lump = a few days with a drain in. The Doc won't let you go home with the drain in as it isn't manageble from home. He will organise the hospital and everything all you need to do is rock on up.
The surgeon is a westerner as are most of the crew at Matilda so don't worry about having to speak any HK-lish.
To start the ball rolling just give the number a call and ask to speak with Dr. Donald and take it from there.

Thanks for the reply, very appreciated. I was considering going back home, but' it's much easier if I can do it in HK.

i'm thinking about going to mainland china to get it done..shenzhen maybe cause its cheaper there....
