I think I need a revision, but its been 7 years since the surgery

New here... Hello!!!
In college, I did a steroid cycle and developed man boobs.  I had the surgery  lipo & excision done about 7 years ago.  I went in for a follow up visit about 4 weeks after the surgery.  Everything looked good, except the right pec looked like there was still some gyno left.  The Doctor looked surprised and thought it was just fluid.  So he shoved a needle in my nipple and tried to suck fluid out.... I almost fainted. He told me to wait and it was probably just swelling.  Well.... its been seven years and the right side still has gland (I can feel it).  Do you guys think it would be beneficial to schedule a office visit with my PS to discuss a revision? I have become obsessed with my gyno 24/7.  Also, since it's been seven years, what are the odds that a revision will cost less then my original surgery ($2,500)?  Thanks in advance.

Usually your PS will do a revision for free or next to nothing (anesthesia costs/operating expenses). But I am sure there is a statute of limitations on how long you can wait before he'll do a revision for free. But who knows unless you ask him. Is the PS you origionally saw still in the same area and in practice? If so, I would schedule a cosultation to discuss options.

Yep... he is still in the same location.

I guess I was in denial all these years.  I never realized that revisions were common until I found this site.

I'd go speak to him then. Maybe he'll still honor a revision due to the circumstances.

Did anyone else here sign a document about a revision plan?  Mine I think was revisions are free for four months.  What's the normal amount of time?

Well.... I scheduled a consultation with my PS (from 7 years ago) for this Monday.
For some weird reason, I was nervous making the appointment.  Ever since my last visit, I was somewhat traumatized with the whole needle in the nipple thing.... it hurt like a biznitch.  Anyhow, my wife thinks I am crazy.  But she is blinded by love (I know ...gag me).  She did not even notice my breasts 7 years ago prior to surgery.  But my friends & I sure did.  I could not even wear a wife beater shirt because my milky nipples would poke through.  OK... back to topic.... For some reason, I am nervous.  I am really interested in a revision.  I just hope the PS is kewl and we can come to some sort of agreement.  My dream is to feel zero lumps in my right pec.  I am still afraid of deformities though.  I have a bad feeling that the PS is going to say that I should have not waited 7 years to come back. Oh well. What can I say.... I was in denial about needing a revision.  I wanted so much to be done with surgeries & gyno.   This sucks because I have become obsessed with my condition and think about it 24/7.

Hey Bro!! I am going in for a revision too. My first surgery about 7 mths ago cost me $6000, all I got was a reduction in size of the original problem..I had about quarter size or bigger areolas  . The PS told me I had allot of gland and fat also. My chest is well developed under all this $#!T...Yes, my gyno is better but still gyno...I am going in to talk about revision. The only thing that sucks is I told him about 3 mths ago I wasn't happy and he said I look fine...But I don't look or feel like my expectation was met...still puffy nipples. I hope he takes me seriously this time around...I am still depressed about the whole thing. I told my Dad I need revision and he says , "who cares women don't care about that"...I said, "I know they don't is a personal choice to make me feel better"..I know women don't really care, especially at age 32 because I have dated and was married to at a minimum an 8 on a 1-10 scale...Do you guys have any suggestions what to do if he says I look fine again?  Good luck with your consultation Bro

You have to be insistant. Don't take "you look fine" as an acceptable answer. Tell him that he told you that right after surgery and you felt the same way as you do now but he told you to wait and it would clear itself up. Well, after 7 years, it's safe to say if it hasn't cleared itself up by now it isn't going to on it's own. Revision is necessary doc!

He might not get what he is looking for but I like the attitude.  If Flex's can-do attitude is adopted any wavering by the surgeon might make him agree to surgery.  Of course if he is resolute and wont budge you have another matter on your hands, but certainly copy his attitude is what i'd say- it has to be worth a shot.

efrain, you are the first person to admit that it was painful to you having the drains done, especially the needle thing, coz ive read a lot of posts here and people say that fluid build up doesn't hurt nor does getting drained,however as far as your revision is concerned you waited an awful lot of time man, what were you doing all this time, was it not bothering you, especially with the clothes and stuff, i have been hiding mine for the past two years, and it seems like forever, anyhow why do you wanna go back to the same doctor who screwed you up for the first time, honestly man go for a specialist, and expert with gyne, who does a lot of these surgeries, dont put the money in front of your happiness man, even if your ps agrees to give you a free revision, you'll still pay for the operation room and the supplies, and to my understanding you have problem only with the right side,that will be less expensive. travel if you have to, many people do, im planning too, it will be worth it. peace.

I am worried about the time frame also.  Do you think it is even worth going to my consultation tomorrow? The PS might think I am a kook for waiting so long.  I was just in denial and hate going under the knife.  The idea of a revision never entered my mind.  I did not know it was common until I found this site.  The ordeal was embarassing and I just wanted to ignore it.  Please give me some advise as to how to handle the conversation with the PS.  I am not sure how to bring up a revision 7 years later without him getting defensive.  BTW, I have not told my wife I am going... I am too embarassed

My PS had to reschedule the consultation for next month.  This is my fault for not calling back to confirm soon enough.  Arg.... I now have to wait 4 weeks.  I want to cut my freaking breasts off now!!!!

I told my wife and she is being kewl & understanding.   I wonder what she is going to say if I tell her I want to drop a couple Gs for a 2nd Surgery.  Oh well... it will be money well spent.
