I saw Super Size Me in Health Class today. And boy, oh boy, was it a great movie! It's about this skinny healthy documentarist who eats mcDonald's for 30 days, and then gains 25 pounds, cholesterol skyrockets, impotence, headaches, addictions to McDonalds, and it also explains some of the problems of the corporations and how they try to control us. Great Stuff. Have y'all seen it?

I am still gonna super size it, though! I love FOOD!

I thought super size had been removed because of the publicity of the movie.

Actually, that is 100% true, but McDonald's denies that this action was taken because of the movie. That is why I am gonna be ordering 2 Large Big Mac Value Meal orders, and like 6 apple pies, and a Reese's McFlurry!!!

ACtually, McDonaldz is gross. I love the toyz though.

Haven't seen it yet. Think I'm gonna go to Blockbuster tonight and rent it.

Just saw it! To paraphraze Frank Barone, "Wholy Crap". Like they said in the movie, that stuff is TOXIC...

Excellent movie and awesome experiment.

I don't by all this crap about people suing companies for making them sick/unhealthy. It would be like trying to sue a beer company for making you an alcoholic. Or trying to sue General Motors for them selling you a 'Vette,  that you wrapped around a huge oak tree turning your self into a quadrapeligic. We all make choices that we have to claim responseabilty for.

McDonaldz food is just like a drug. You use it to feel good about yourself but then when you come down, you feel like crap so you use again to feel better. The sad part about it is that millionz upon millionz of parents feed that garbage to their kidz who are mentally unable to make a healthier food choice. :o >:( :o

just watched it. Pretty amazing show. I too don't believe in taking legal action against fast food establishments because you're fat.  On one hand, i suppose it can be argued that it's the government's responsibility to protect us from things that may hurt us.  But if they did that, I think just about everything could be banned.  Where would it end? On the other hand, there's certainly an argument for personal responsibility and as soon as the government gets involved to "protect" us, there's a segment of the population who will cry freedom of choice.  It gets to be a vicious circle.  I'm rambling. Out!

I really don't get how this film can be lauded as "ground-breaking" or what have you.

So a guy eats a sh*t-load of McDonald's and gets fat and ill.

Who exactly is surprised?
etc.

It was very interesting to see the 'extent' of his illness in just a short time.

doddy - You have got to be one of the more short-sighted, concrete thinkers these boards have seen in some time. "a guy eats a sh*t-load of McDonald's and gets fat and ill."  Did you use both your highly toned analytical viewing and deductive reasoning skills to reach that conclusion?  I think my 11 month old son got more out of that movie than you.

The movie was about several things, including: How the fast food industry channels direct marketing campaigns towards children, the billions of dollars giant chains spend on advertising, and the way in which the US government controls a large portion of what goes in the mouths of our kids (in the form of school lunches).  Not to mention all the health related problems that become more and more likely with each bite (high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.).  Oh yeah, I almost forgot, you can also experience difficulties in achieving an erection, which could be a problem if you're in a relationship.

But on 2nd thought, maybe I'm not doing your comment the justice it deserves.  Afterall, when reduced to it's absolute simplest form, your post is 100% accurate.  The guy eats a sh*t load of McDonald's and got fat and ill.  I agree, nobody should be surprised.

SuperSize me seems a bit of a lie though now that i am thinking of it. The guy was probably just acting out on day 28 when he could barely walk up the steps. McDonalds is good. Specially that new McGriddle. Cant stop eating them. Its a good breast enlargement treatment, a high fat diet. Notice how his nipples get puffy at the end of his McDiet.

And when he vomited, he probably induced vomiting, or he couldnt handle the Super Size meal. Wuss. Pussy.

Look at that guy that looks like John Lennon, forgot his name. Big macs are a part of who he is, and he is healthy and looks great, although a bit pale.

  • Surgery done, all good
This film has grown very close to my heart during my post-op recovery.
Being all bandaged up, I've got nothing to do except laze around watching films.  My girlfriend bought this for me, and i've watched it like 4 times already - it's absolutely brilliant.
Although it's very funny at times, it's above-all incredibly sobering, and there's a great lesson to be learnt.  It's so great that this guy has made a film that's changing how people think about fast-food - he should be given a knighthood.

So yeah.  Brilliant.  Fact.

Also saw Kill Bill 1 & 2.  Fantastic.
Can you guys recommend any other films for me to watch while I lay around on my lazy, breastless ass?

The Incredibles is a cool flick. Just finished watching it for the second time. IMO, it is Pixars best film to date.
