Hi everyone. Just thought i'd come on and share my pic's. Basically i use to smoke and binge drink a lot and decided to give it up for a healthier lifestyle - got into weights and running etc. Starting taking Creatine etc and it went from there really- anyway went to my GP and he referred me. Finally went and they said that surprise surprise they wouldn't consider surgery as not enough there and to go back to the gym !Morons!. So i've lost a lot of weight and its become more noticeable to me than ever - not sure ifs it in my head or its got worse. Anyway tell me what you think. Its ironic to think that giving up my bad lifestyle and wanting to improve my body has had the opposite effect.  ???

Thanks Volatile - in terms of the hormone thing - i've had this for about 3 years. Would it make any difference if there was an imbalance in my hormones?

In terms of the surgery it would really be on the NHS or nothing, i cant afford to go private! Although sometimes i look at it and its not that bad. I think i'm lucky in the respect that what annoys me isn't the fact that its there but more the fact that i know i can never have a perfect flat chest - no matter what i do (vain - i don't know). In the pictures (for example gyno6) the pose does show it clear as day. However sometimes i can barely notice it although i know its there - in particular sitting in a relaxed position. Like i say losing weight has brought it to my attention more. As other people have said, being overweight there is some acceptance in that people dont look at it as out-of-place. For the next year or so i think i'll try and get my b/f down to six-pack equivalent and then see what it looks like from there. if i'm still not happy i'll bulk up and make my chest more muscular while keeping the b/f low. That way it should be much more clear to see (just as in the small poke in picture 1 (gyno5)) and hopefully might sway the NHS into doing something or on the other hand it may have the opposite effect if the overall size reduces. Any thoughts...

go to a different doctor.  Maybe he'll let you go through.

cheers thanks for the feedback fellas. Anyone want to judge it 1-10? Personally i'd say 3-4. Anyway have to also pay respect to the people on these boards and also all who suffer from it.

In terms of the working out. i suppose it cant actually make it any worse, might just make it look worse tho (which is not a good thing- unless i have to persuade the NHS). Anyone know if its an easier operation if you're more muscular. A lot of the before/after pictures look as though those with more muscular chests have better results, can anyone testify to that..?

Well, if you don't have much muscle underneath the gland/fat you'll be as flat as a board. Before I had my surgery I was benching about 250lbs, so my chest is not totally flat but puffy from the muscle. IMO, you don't seem to have allot of muscle on your chest so you'll be flat after the operation..I am not being critical or saying anything about your physique in a bad way, just telling you what I think.  ;D

No offense taken buddy. I go through yo-yo periods of doing weights. I've recently stated to get strict though into a routine and after summer bulk up again. Never been into benching- max @ about 160lbs. But gonna start with a month of powerlifting and zigzag into powerlifting/bodybuilding for a couple of months.

I'm 23 and i have made an appointment to see my GP to be referred again as don't want to get any older and wish i had it done years ago! The only concern of course it that at the moment i don't think it looks bad enough from a surgeons point of view to warrant surgery. But i suppose i'll have to convince them that it plays on my mind as is causing issues (which it is).

Btw gyneman, have you had surgery? From as aesthetic aspect has it been what you were hoping for?
