After looking high and low on my computer I was unable to find my before pictures. I was counting on Dr. Poomee to share some before shots with me, but he had already erased my photos from his digital camera. I apologize for the lack of before shots. I know it is difficult to gauge the success of the operation without seeing the before shots.

I would say my condition was about a 4-5 (more than just puffy nipples). I could probably grab a handful before the opteration. My breasts were noticable when I wore a t-shirt. I would usually by a size higher to cover up my condition. I never took my shirt off in public.

Now I can wear a T-shirt without being self-conscious. I still have a little shape to my chest, but now it looks more like muscle than breasts. Overall, I am VERY happy with the surgery outcome. Since my nipples have continued to shrink, my scars are not that noticable.

I will post updated pics in a day or two. I will also surf through the board to find comparable before shots to help you judge.

Thanks again,
Rob

Congratulations Rob and enjoy being on the other side :)......I asked Dr Pomee for a cost estimate for lipo and excision and it was around 120000 baht......lil bit higher than what you payed. But as the other posters have mentioned, it's very difficuly to judge the success of the operation without before/after photos... Please look for them again ;)

thx

Paranoid07,
I will look around some more. For the time being it will be difficult for me to get my hands on any photos as I am in Cambodia traveling and getting internet access, and what not, can be difficult at times. I am surprised he has raised his rates, especially in light of the strong Baht.

Since I do not have internet access in my hotel room I will not be able to post updated photos. I can say that the appearance of my chest continues to improve. I have no swelling at all now. There is scar tissue behind my nipples which causes them to protrude some what. I have begun to massage this area to help the body reabsorb the stuff. The scars at the areola are barely noticeable. The excisions sites are a little more prominent and makes it obvious that I had surgery done. I have started to use the scar treatment silicone sheets that Dr. Poomee suggested. All in all I am VERY satisified with my results. I suspect once the scar tissue subsides I will have pretty flat chest.

I apologize again for the lack of before photos. I believe I may have some copies on my computer back in the States, but since I won't have access to that computer for more than a month, I suspect this won't be much use to you guys have the surgery soon.

Gotta run,
Rob

Have anyone checked out the Yanhee Hospital? I haven't been able to contact them via email but I'll definitely give them a visit when I go to Bangkok in a couple of weeks.

BKKRoss,
Sorry for not updating you guys for awhile. I have been back in California for just about two weeks now. My healing is still moving along. I may have mentioned before that I  developed scar tissue underneath/inside each nipple that causes the nipple to protrude some. Well, the scar tissue is residing slowly and my nipples are becoming less and less puffy. I have been doing a little bit of massaging, but have not been religious about it. I suspect with a lipo only surgery you will not have this sort of problem. Otherwise, everything is looking great. I feel much more comfortable with and without a shirt. The scars under my nipples are not noticeable. The lipo site scars are more pronounced, but they are becoming less noticeable as time goes on. All in all, I am VERY happy with my results. I suspect that in a couple more months my chest will be very flat and the lipo scars will be nonexistent. Good luck on your surgery in January. I am sure you will look and feel great.
In regards to Yanhee Hospital, it has a good reputation, it is cheaper than Bumrungrad, and good deal of foreigners use the hospital. Check out the forums at www.thaivisa.com there are a number of threads discussing the experiences of various posters at a number of hospitals in Bangkok. Where ever you go make sure the doctor has as much experience as possible with gyn surgeries.
Any of you guys are free to PM me if you have any questions. I get email notifications from my PMs. This is the best way to contact me since I am not on the board 24/7 like I used to be. Also, I will get some before pictures as soon as I get my computer out of storage and have it shipped to California. Sorry about the wait.

Good luck everyone,
Rob

GynO_DuDe,
I am happy to hear that your healing is coming along so nicely. I am sure you will be all set once school starts.

As for Dr. Poomee's views on gyn corrective surgery, I think it is unusal that a plastic surgeon of all people would have this attitude. Given his comment you would think that people DONT undergo hair transplants. Anyways, I hope that didn't send the wrong signal to you BKKRoss.

I will keep you guys updated.

-Rob

Gyne on Asian males is quite rare except for the clinically obese.   Much more common on Westerners.   Perhaps that's why Dr Poomee thinks we're being vain.   For women, being too small in the chest department is probably more distressing when it comes to the mating game because their time is so short, and there are certainly plenty of those in Asia.   Male gyne has probably increased markedly over the past century due to environmental and pharmaceutical estrogens, and may affect Asian males in increasing numbers too, although their lesser body musculature hides it to a degree.

BTW Yanhee hospital is good also -- it's where the Thais go to get away from the medical-tourist hordes!   It's on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya river in northern Bangkok.   However, Dr Poomee does not operate at Yanhee, probably preferring the richer pickings of Bumrungrad in the Sukhumvit tourist belt.   If he's as good as is claimed, can't say I blame him!

Bumrungrad is a fantastic hospital, one of the top ten in the world in fact.
Im just back from getting a facelift op done there. Fraction of the UK cost & its like a 5* hotel with service to match!
Try the inhouse italian restaurant, its very good.
I wouldnt waste money getting my breasts hacked off tho! LOL! :D

Who was your facelift surgeon at Bumrungrad?   And the cost?

What is your interest in this forum if you are fortunate enough not to suffer from gynecomastia?

Thanks, that's really interesting!   No harm in mentioning other surgeries performed in the same hospital, especially as we gyne-dudes with middle-aged spread could do with a facelift too.   So you compared costs in the UK for the facelift and upper/lower blepharoplasties?   Would have to be at least 50% more than at Bumrungrad?

Now you've regained your pulling power for the Thai lasses in the face department are you saving up for gyne surgery to avoid their hurtful remarks like (my experience, on undressing): 'You look just like lady'?   Bear in mind, though, some gyne sufferers have bigger breasts than the svelte Asian ladies, so they can be shocked at the appearance when compared with their flat-chested men.

Unlike you, though, I favour gyne/abdominal liposuction surgery ahead of a facelift.   Must be my natural good looks  ;D.   Seriously, though, looking at your gyne photos, you might consider letting the NHS (the UK's national health service) have a go first free-of-charge.   If you can get to Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge, they are quite quick and have a reknowned breast unit.   Being so severe, you could tackle your gyne in two stages: NHS first, let it settle, then let Dr Poomee in Thailand perform any fine tuning a year later, if required.

thanx Trevor, I did compare prices in UK & they were about 3 times the price I paid! The Thai surgeons also have a world class reputation for cosmetic surgery (mostly I guess for the sex change stuff!) I also have family living in Thailand so i visit a lot. I love it!
Yeh Ive had quite a few thai girlys commenting on my breasts, however I just have a good laugh with them as its not something that bothers me in the slightest!
Yes I could have them hacked off under NHS my doc offered me an op 3 years ago. (I declined her kind offer!)
My face bothered me a lot though even when people said I looked young for my age! I even saw a shrink before I commited to the op!
Im very happy with the results.

I presume you only posted your gyne pics here and not the facelift ones?   Would you care to email the face ones to me at trevor2522@yahoo.com as I am considering the procedure too?   Who recommended the Thai surgeon to you?   I know they're expert at sex-change surgery but eye tucks are really delicate and you don't want to employ anyone other than the best of the best!

Was it very uncomfortable washing your face during the recovery period?   I imagine being over-clean could damage the surgeon's handiwork.   How long before you could take a shower?   Thanks for your valuable tips.

BTW did you have gyne in the family?   My local breast surgeon at Addenbrookes in Cambridge claimed it is not genetically-inherited.   But I think that is wrong as my dad has it, albeit to a lesser degree, and I suspect my maternal grandfather added in a bit of flab for me there too!

Hi Trevor, 1st, no i dont have gyne in family . i have secondary hypogonadism which when your pituitary doesnt sent signals to balls to make any testosterone. Result: excess estrogen which = boobs! (and quite a few other symptoms!) i take T gel which has me fine. Boobs will stay as they been too long, but they are part of me! Hell, i could have no legs!

Re; the doc , I enquired at bumrungrad hospital about procedure ( my sis in law is thai & she checked out the place for me) they sent me a list of docs who were available on the date i wanted & I checked out their experience & qualifications. Dr Termsak Navykorn was who i chose . He trained in US & is a professor of cosmetic surgery at one of bangkoks universities. Im glad I chose him as he has made a fantastic job of my face .In hospital for 2 days, I could shower after 2 days, There was very little pain , stitches round eyes came out after 4 days, rest after 7 days. He used "fibrin" glue a lot so there werent too many stitches anyway & after 3 months you can hardly see any scars! I do still have some numbness each side of my face at ears. they said this was normal & could take 6 months to recover.

hope this is of some interest to you. i can highly recomend bumrungrad international hospital.
