I'm currently at 5 weeks after surgery, and at about 3 weeks I began developing a hard mass underneath my right nipple...  I began massaging the area, which was somewhat still numb, and then got painful, in hopes of it going away - At about 4 weeks, I began to feel a similar mass growing under neath my left nipple...  My mass on my right side is significantly larger than my left, and they are both very sore to the touch.  I called my Dr. and he said it was an accumulation of fluid and scar tissue, and to make an appt where he explained he would inject an anti inflammatory which should calm it down..   He advised me not to continue massaging it because I could aggravate it even more.  I'm scheduled to see him in 2 days, and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions or maybe heard of something similar.  Also, I've noticed that my nipples have inverted as well, and was wondering in time if they would look more normal.  Thanks, JR

Best advice is not to panic or make premature judgments about the results of your operation -- it is much too early.

See your surgeon and ask his advice.
