post op massaging

ok, I thought I would start this thread because I think it is an important thing to have information about for anyone who is post op.
After my two week consultation with my ps, he didn't mention anything about massaging scar tissue or around the surgical area. It wasn't until I came to this website that I found out about this post op practice.
I asked the resident surgeon about it and he told me to massage the area but didn't give me any more information than that. I have just started doing it twice a day for about five minutes on the scar tissue area and around the gland

So I was interested in everyone's thoughts regarding

How long you can massage for
how many times a day
how much pressure should be applied
massage techniques
areas to apply to
and any other information regarding this topic
