I will tell you just how far I have crossed to "the other side"......

True story, I was in the company of an attractive young lady I had seen a few times one morning.  I am laying there shirtless and she has her hand on my chest and she says "you know what I like best about you....your chest"  Swear on my kids she said that......

Can anyone comprehend how far I have come.....It was unimaginable 3yrs ago.

When she said it I had to chuckle, she asked why I was laughing, and I just said no one had ever said that about me before.....

The journey is complete.

I've read pretty much every post in this thread, and i have to say man, i envy you with all my heart, and i'm so incredibly happy for you reading your positive outcome of it all.

I recently turned 20 years old, I moved in a shared apartment that i share with 4 very attractive and fun lady's (who are having a vacation in Berlin at the moment but will move in in about a week), things are going great in school and im in great physical shape.... sounds awesome right?

except for the fact that i have had gyno since like i was 11....

i recently got the money together after years of saving up, Im now caught up in choosing a surgeon who could get rid of these things.

I actually found a surgeon who can get it done before my summer vacation ends (6 September), for an amount that i can afford, the clinic is located in Poland, and even though i have heard alot of good stories about them im still VERY anxious...

..But i really think its time for me to just take the leap of faith and start living my life afterwards.

Don't know if you are an American or if you live in Europe.  If you are American, I would be very careful about going abroad for surgery -- there are just too many horror stories around.  Also, consider the fact that after surgery, proper follow up by your doctor is essential.  And if something should go wrong, what is the policy concerning revision surgery?  And if something should go really wrong, what are your possible legal remedies in another country?

Bottom line:  be very careful and if possible, save your money and go to a reputable and experienced gyne surgeon in the US -- it will be well worth your while and might just save you a lot of headache (and perhaps a not so perfect chest) in the long run.

Your right on a lot of points even though i do in fact Live in Europe, Netherlands to be precise. Still, traveling to Poland in Eastern Europe is still considered ''going abroad'' as its a completely different environment, in the end there's always a reason why it's so cheap over there i guess.

The thing is, the surgeon over there seems to be very experienced with gyno. The only reason im having doubts about going in my own safe country, is that i am very sceptical about the expertise and experience the surgeons have with gyno, all of the Plastic Surgery clinics over here specialize in a lot of things, but gyno always seems to be something ''on the side''.

I would love to fly out to the US and get it done right by a proper specialist, but this is something i could never afford, not in a few years at least. So thats why i ended up looking for a proper specialist on gyno within europe, and thats how i ended up with the polish clinic, who claimed to have done more then 150 gyno operations and still operate on a daily basis. Then again, I am indeed very afraid of all the points you mentioned, especially after surgery checkups, and legal issues etc.

Beside the Polish clinic i am also mailing with 3 Dutch clinics (the general price over here for gyno lies between the 1500,- and 2500,- which is affordable for me, and these are not chop-shop clinics, the pricing is just different over here i guess) So ye im still in the midst of mailing with all of them at the moment.

Just had surgery a week ago and read this thread back when it started in 2008. It is obvious that your intention was to not only help yourself but also to help other people and this has been proven by the approximately 11,000 views this thread has received. Actually my story is very similar to your (in my 40s, overweight, etc) and I thought it did an excellent job of telling me what to expect, results, etc. Thank you.

I have been away from this board for ~2 years, changing my life in a different way, but now that I am 1 week post op, decided to pay it forward and help other people just as you have done. Like myself, I think taking the mystery out of the operation has helped people get up the courage to finally confront the G and do something about it. Had I read this thread ~30 years ago I honestly believe that I would have done something about it back then. Obviously I now regret that but I will just look forward to my next 49 years. lol Again thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts and observations.

OK, now that I have been nice in complimenting you on your post, I will now become a jerk on behalf of myself and no doubt the thousands of other people who read this thread: Do the right thing and post the "Before and After" pictures that you had continually promised!
