Hi guys, this is my first post on here - firstly I want to say what a treat it is to find so many friendly people to discuss something which is a painful subject to so many (including me).

I'm 20 and 6'4 - I'm slightly overweight but I am quite a big build - ie: I have quite broad shoulders.  I have had breasts for over 10 years now and like many have suffered (hunchbacked, limited clothing range etc) ever since.  Well last October, I actually plucked up the courage to visit the doctor - a huge step for me as I was very embarassed about it.  I hadn't told any friends or family about it or anything like that.  He reffered me to a specialist, who then told me I didn't have Gynacomasia, but it was something that could be solved by losing weight.

Needless to say, I have been trying to lose weight ever since...I have lost a bit but they don't seem to be getting any smaller.  I run, jog, do situps and I have one of those walker-type exercise machines in my house which I use regularly, yet none of it seems to be working.  I found this site only an hour or so ago and have taken some of the information on board.

What I'd like to ask is, is there anybody that could maybe advise me to more specific workouts that I could try to aid me in getting rid of these damn things (sorry to refer to them as that, but they are becoming such a major factor of my life that I'm willing to try anything to get rid of them).  Preferably, but not necessarily, I'd like to buy something for the home - I do have a room which is a spare room that I put exercise things in - it's easier for me as there isn't a gym for about 20 miles.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

if the specialist says its fat then its quite likely exercise can dramitically improve the situation.  Losing weight can be very tough at first and it will appear that your chest size is not changing but the reality is that the more body fat you lose the more normal you will look.  If you are not suffering from true gyno (glands) and your skin doesnt have a problem with stretch marks then eventually your chest will become normal if you lose enough weight.

The most important thing for losing weight is to first control your diet.  Simply put you have to watch what you eat and ensure you are burning more calories than you are eating.  Basic exercise will help but its best to try to get into a more serious exercise program (search for crossfit workouts if you want something fairly hardcore).  Weight training will also help, putting more muscle on your frame will help even out what body fat you do have and also will increase the amount of calories your body is using everyday.

this is of course assuming that your problem is just fat (like mine has been).  Its not something that will go away in just a couple of months, you have to train hard for at least a year or two.  If you do that I'm certain you will see a huge improvement.
