Was anyones Gyne causing them pain?

Hi guys. I have a consultation booked with Levick in two weeks but Im a little worried. I have had Gyne since I was really young (Im 25 now). In the last couple of months it has gotten really sore and harder under the skin. Im am very sure this is attributable to hairloss drugs I am taking. I have since toned down the drugs but the pain remains.
Does anyone know if it would be wise to go ahead with the operation even though I am in pain (the pain really isnt too bad but it is sore to touch)?

I had pain in my left side when I used Andractim Sean (the left side almost disappeared and is almost normal   )

If I could afford to get the operation (new baby = No money!   ) ESPECIALLY if it hurt, then I would go for it.

my gyne was bought on by hairloss drug proscar/propecia and my chest killed whilst using it. I stopped after a month's use and the pain was no more but the gyne remained - and now that's gone due to the op.

It sounds like there could be some real hormonal issues going on here.  Certain hair-loss drugs can have an impact on your sex hormones.  I'd always recommend that anyone considering surgery to treat gynaecomastia go see their GP first.  Tell them about your problem and that you'd like to see an endocrinologist to rule out any potential hormonal issues before going under the knife.  Any GP remotely up on their endocrinology will be happy to make you a referral.

If there is an underlying cause of your gynaecomastia, there is a risk it could return after any surgery (I think it's something like one in eight guys' gynaecomastia is testosterone deficient related).

Go see your GP.  No one on here is able to give you a medical opinion.

Il_gorilla, I too cant afford the op....I have been saving but will have to get a loan....My tolerance for my condition is at an all time low at the moment. I have got quite a few not a nice person comments from people recently and I am travelling the world at the end of the year so the op will hopefully be coming at a good time!

Ace....really interested in your post...thanks! I have been taking avedart (much stronger than propecia!!) and oral spironolactone (silly but great for hairloss and acne). I have gotten pain from taking spiro before and it went a away so Im hoping that is what will happen here. I think the pain is slightly subsiding already. Unfortunately hairloss makes me far more unhappy than gyne and have the 2 isnt nice. Who did your op? Did you tell him that you were taking propecia? How are you now?

Phantom...thanks for the post...you seem like a very knowledgable guy and are very generous with your time. The fact of the matter is that I had gyne since I was around 10 years old. The hairloss drugs have made things a little worse but hopefully on cessation of the harshest drug, the pain will subside (as it has before). So basically if and when the pain subsides, I STILL have gyne! So I am most likely going to go for the op but I am hoping I will be experiencing no pain by the time I see Levick. In direct contradiction to what I have just said (!) I am going to get a referral to an endo from my GP. This is not only to discuss the op but also to establish how messed up my hormones are after 6 years of hairloss drugs! Its all a very worrying time really.

AND I have to do all this without my girlfriend noticing!

Phantom makes a good point, after I stopped Proscar after 30 days use (about 3 years ago) I saw my doctor and the first thing he did was to send me to an Endo specialist. Thankfully all was well hormonally.

So I guess I had my op for aesthetics really - and cos I could afford it. When i couldn't I didn't have it done. simple as that. I had my op in Poland, details of which are in the 'Poland Surgery' thread

My gyne is sore to the touch, especially below my nipple. My right side of my chest is NOT sore like this at all and is gyne free so it is definetely the gyne causing it.

Don't be. Mention the pain to Mr.L and what exactly you're taking for hair-loss.

Re the hair loss, maybe what you are taking is irritating the gland tissue? Did you have the pain before taking it?

I've been taking a herbal remedy called Saw Palmetto for hair loss for the past four months (available in H&B) and I've noticed some improvement. I wouldn't touch anything like Proscar or Regaine.
