Surgery done! w/ pre/post op pics

Hey mate,

How you feeling now? I'm feeling pretty immobile today due to this vest, and I had hellish morning getting the bandages of my sore, and hairy chest - I had to sit down every 30 seconds. And I'm finding getting up difficult! I feel a bit of mess tbh. I thought I would check in to see if this is similar for you (though I hope not!). And did you manage to get any revision done today for your exam?

Ok so this morning my friend from London who I've known for 15 years came down to surprise me because it's my birthday soon......

He's been with me all day so I couldn't study for the exam or act like I'd just been operated on so I told him I injured myself playing football. He's sleeping on the floor in my room right now. Also, one of the incision sites was bleeding very heavily this morning and the plaster was soaked and there's a stain on the vest as well but i havent looked at it since the morning so idk what condition its in. And my mobility has probably decreased because I've been up all day and have only had 5 hours of rest since the op.

So far this is the worst recovery possible so I'm gonna send this guy back tomorrow, do my exam and just crash in my bed for a week only leaving to eat or to lectures.

Guys I thought I could handle this op with a busy schedule but I really can't. My chest feels so numb and abnormal and I can't even get myself to touch it and everything just seems like a big mess. I would highly recommend just taking a week off everything and staying in bed watching tv which is what I'm gonna do from tomorrow.

bro, if the bleeding does not stop by tomorrow, give the hospital a call. is the bleeding coming from the flank site?

Birmingham you don't choose a life, you live one....you need to put yourself first.  Kick your mate out, get the dressing changed and sit back, relax and stop worrying.  You will then be able to concentrate on recovery and your exams and feel a lot better about the BIG change your body has just gone through.

Birmingham, if you were to someone elevate site of bleeding it would help a great deal. If it is indeed the flanks, place a pillow under you bum.

Lol dw guys I'll be fine. The bleeding was in the left nipple but I'm pretty sure it's stopped because after the initial stain on the vest around 4 pm today there's not been any sign of it so far. I'll be putting a new bandage there tomorrow around 11 am so will know by then and if in doubt I'll call the hospital. Dexs I'll be fine bro dw.

Hey, I know what you mean about not being able to bring yourself to touch it. Not sure if you are being too relaxed like the others are saying, and you should definitely keep an eye on your bleeding, but your positive attitude is making me feel less of a wuss, so thanks!

Wow dude that is too much stress prior to an operation, I'm going to see if I can arrange a car journey when I go in. Even with the traffic, it should beat the stress of trains when you've already been through a lot.

I took the vest off earlier and replaced the plaster which was soaked in blood with a new one. I think all of the incisions should be closed now or definitely by Monday.

I might seem a bit relaxed about the whole thing because every thread I've read in this forum seems to have this pattern happy>worried>getting better>satisfied with results, so there's no point worrying and if anything is wrong I can talk to Karidis about it in the 6 week post op other than stressing for the next 5 weeks. At least I'm at not risk of blood clotting after that much walking straight after op though.I turned my phone off this morning, stocked up on food and just slept till now and this is what I plan to do tomorrow as well so should be plenty of rest,

No pics today cause it looks exactly the same as yesterday and I cba get off bed lol.

I still can't believe I spent almost £6k on this whole thing though.. Could've had a nice BMW series 1 for that much :/

So far it's worth every penny though. My whole body has changed shape, he did some brilliant work on the flanks especially, and for chest I was expecting the best from Karidis anyway.
