Typical NHS, they'll say and do anything to avoid spending money.

Really really want to get this surgery done, I have quite a severe case and being a 19 year old lad at uni with it is so hard. Problem is I just dont have the balls to tell my mum/family, and I only just have enough money in my savings account. I know it would change my life and make me so much happier, just need to pluck up the courage now.

Its going to be hard, but i cant stress how important it is that you tell them. My parents understand what it means to me now and have been nothing but supportive. You just gotta take a deep breath and take the plunge. Try not to think about it, just come out with it. If you think too much on it youl scare yourself into not telling them.

Right, quick update. I had my consultation with Levick on tuesday and I was very impressed as i thought i would be. He basically talks you through the whole procedure and shows you pictures etc so you have a clue what to expect but nothing we havent seen on here already i guess. He said i wont have to have lypo which i think is a good thing from what ive read on here in regards to healing. Think ive pretty much got the finance sorted so im going to try and book it next week when im 100% sure i can pay and hopefully i can get booked in for early july which would be perfect.

Good luck mate, I'm having my consultation with Karidis next Friday, 1 week today, I'm hoping to get it booked up ASAP after that, hopefully he can literally fit me in within 1-2weeks. Now I've got to the stage where I know I'm defo having it, I don't want to wait 1-2months... I've been patient enough throughout my entire teen years having it and just dealing with it. And it's my Birthday June 24th, so would be nice to have it done before that and be on the road to recovery during my Birthday, plus I'm sure it will start getting to them horrid high 20 degree days soon and I just wanna be free to wear my t-shirt without the vest by end of July/August.

Let us know when you get it booked up for in the end.

Right! Got my surgery booked in for 10/07/2013 with Levick at 8.00am. Its a bit of a ball ache being that early because ive got to travel to get there but thats not an issue in the grand scheme of things. I'l try and get some pre op pics up asap probably tomorrow when my new phone arrives.

Cheers mate, I've finally got it booked! I wanted to get it done sooner but ive got a holiday booked on the 26th of june for a week so i went for asap after that. Ive been following your thread and i cant wait to get it done now even though the rollercoaster sounds pretty grim and i tend to worry quite a lot about things. I guess you have to just look at the long term and think of where your chest will be at by christmas. If stems results 6 months on are anything to go by then its all gonna be good

Wicked mate, congrats on the book up!! I am now 1 week post-op and don't regret a thing, I'm already happy with my results... But i've not even started with the scar tissue yet, so I'm sure I'm gonna have a rough month or two coming up. But honestly, I don't have to get my body out for shit so as long as I can wear a t-shirt without having big puffy nipples on breasts poking through I'm happy, and right now I'm sitting here in a t-shirt with no vest on underneath (having a break as I don't have much swelling), flat as hell & I'm loving it. I'll be keeping up to date with your thread, I've seen some amazing work from Levick so I wish you the best of luck.

Great! - look forward to following another Levick miracle! - I've still a lot of saving to do, but think I might be leaning more towards Levick's technique due to where he makes the cuts in armpits rather than on edge of nips... though I wonder if it is more difficult to be so 'accurate' when you are attacking the gland from further away as it were? His results speak for themselves though, so no worries!

Just a quick update, I've had to rearrange my operation to 28/8/2013. I got my uni results and unfortunately i have to resit a couple of things and i don't believe that surgery is the best thing for me until the resit period is over so i can focus on my work. To be honest i'm feeling a lot more confident about my chest after my holiday and people saying they think there's nothing wrong with it, that's not to say i don't still feel really insecure about it but my friends comments have really helped. Its quite funny how your own perception of yourself is so much more critical and scrutinizing than of other people. Roll on the end of August

Welcome!

Good luck with saving up, I'm in same boat... £800 in the piggy bank so far  :)

As to it returning, if you chose a surgeon who removes the gland, it can't return... Actual fat can still return, but of course fat is easy to lose, just diet. Gland can only be lost via a sharp knife!

Not true man it can certainly come back. Surgeons leave a little bit of gland behind the nipple to keep everything looking good otherwise there would be a crater. They remove about 99% of the gland. Unless 100% is removed it can still grow back.

Its rare but can happen, if you smoke weed or do steroids or your hormones go crazy on there own like they did when you hit puberty, gyno can come back.

Well if you choose to do drugs, (other than required prescription drugs of course) then you should expect and deserve the consequences... As for 1% remaining gland growing into noticeable moobs again, if your hormones are that crazy some years after puberty, then probably the last thing you'll be worrying about is moobs I suspect.

Would be interested in reading some proper medical research on moobs returning after 99% of gland being excised (in guys that don't do weed/steroids or other drugs well known to cause gynecomastia) - I've not been able to find any?

There are exceptions to everything, of course, but seems the vast majority of guys develop gyne during puberty, and it just remains more-or-less the same until they get it sorted. It generally only seems to get worse over time in guys who put on a lot of weight and/or use drugs known to exaserbate the problem (like weed/steroids) - all of which upset the natural hormone balance which otherwise returns to most guys after puberty... it's just gland once formed, won't go away without surgery (as we all know).

Is there anyone on here whose GLAND (as opposed to fat deposits) has re-grown after being 99% excised? and if so what was the cause?

The doctors say it can't grow back, (unless you do drugs or put on a ton of weight) - so if that is untrue, we are all being mislead?!

Heading off to Birmingham soon, the operation is tomorrow. I'm feeling a weird sense of nervous excitement. I kind of know what to expect because of all the information everyone has given on here but even so it feels like a step into the unknown. Next time I post I'll be gyne free!!
