Heh Nope and others,

Just curious.......were you charged for those cortisone shots?
There's a cortisone cream that's prescribed for eczema callled Elocon. One of the warnings is " possible thinning skin" which is a good thing in this case......
I'm wondering if rubbing that on the scars might improve their appearence/healing. I'm only 6 weeks out, so I'm not too worried yet, but I definitely have a bunch of hard scar tissue on my left side.
Just a thought.....

Mike

Thanks, I think I will try that if I need to.  No I was not charged for the shots, they are covered by Ontario's gov't health plan.  Otherwise, I'm sure the PS would do them for free considering I've already paid $3500 for the surgery

I had my 2nd round of cortisone injections today.  I'm hoping that this will get rid of whats left of my scar tissue.  There is not much left underneath the skin, its the surface scar thats the main prob now, although I'm sure the surface scars will go down over time, I want them to hurry up!

The nipples/scars look a little grusome right now because I just had the shots, but in 1-2 weeks they should be looking better than ever.  The only thing thats buggin me is that the PS didn't inject them right in the part of the scar I wanted him to, I wanted him to get right in this one spot thats lookin the worst, but he went a little away from it.  It's still right near it tho so we will see what happens.  I will update shortly.

7 months post-op

It's been 1 week since my 2nd round of cortisone shots in the scar tissue.  It looks pretty similar to how it looked at 6 months.  It will probably improve further over the next week or 2 because last time I got the shots it was around the 2 week mark that I noticed really good results.  Basically, I have a little bit of fat I need to have lipo'd, I have a little bit of scar tissue underneath the nipples, and a little bit of scar on the surface of the skin.  The lipo and cortisone shots will get rid of these things eventually.  The main problem is the surface scar, its not bad but it's bothering me the most.  Neither the fat or scar tissue is that bad on its own but the combo of them makes me still unhappy with my chest.  I do feel it's a matter of time at this point until it looks perfect.  I have the lipo in 4 weeks, and cortisone shots as needed, we're still in February so I got lots of time until summer, time is on my side...for now  ;)

Nope...

Thanks for the progress report. Much appreciated!

I am 3 weeks Post-Op and I too have the hard lumps that you speak of. They are very sore when I press on them  :-/. Me thinks it will be a long road to being fully healed. One day at a time!

8 months post op

I just had Lipo this morning with Dr. Fielding in Toronto.  It was an extremely weird experience because I was completely awake for the procedure, but my chest was completely numbed so I didn't feel a thing.  It was just disgusting watching what he was doing, and my chest felt like rubber, I'm surprised they don't do a general anesthetic cuz it was just a very unpleasant experience.

Anyway, I am about 3 hours post lipo, and I looked at my chest and it looks the same which is annoying, but I know there is still fluid in there and swelling obviously for a couple weeks at least, but still I was hoping to see an immediate improvement.

As for the scar tissue, underneath the nipple I'd say it's 90% gone and not causing me a problem anymore, but the outer scars are pretty much the same as 7-months post-op.  I will be having more cortisone shots in a few weeks.

I still think everything will be basically looking great at the end of April...I'll update my lipo progress shortly

did you originally have surgery with fielding?  I was also wondering if you had "swelling"7 weeks post-op? Or was that the reason you had more lipo done?because my left side seems to be a little bigger...anyways later
had the surgery done,now i'm gynecomastia-less

1 week Post op- Lipo

Some minor improvement are noticed.  Overall chest looks flatter, but there is still swelling so its hard to tell.  There is no bruising whatsoever, lipo scars are already gone.  My chest is very hard where it is swelled, I'm sure this is normal but I don't know for sure.  I am a bit sore.  I was hoping for better results at this point, but there has to be swelling because I'm sore and it is all hard where the fat was, so I'm sure it will look better in the coming days/weeks.

11 days post op lipo

Chest is still swelled.  The areas where the lipo was done is very hard underneath and is swelled about the same size it was pre-lipo...I dunno this is annoying.

I don't think the PS took enough outta the right breast either, but it's really pointless to get too upset right now because the swelling hasn't gone down at all, so who knows, it might end up being fine

I'm 7 weeks Post-Op. My left side looks great! However my right areola is puffed out and feels like there is something hard beneath the areola/nipple. I wonder if Doc Fielding didn't get all of the gland tissue. Maybe it's hard scar tissue. I don't know. Also the right nipple seems to be erect alot of the time ???. The right areola is bigger than the left and is puffed out a bit like I mentioned above.

I will ask JCF about my right puffy areola at my 12 week Post-Op exam. It's not a real biggie as it's not very noticeable but I would like the right areola to be like the left.... flat and small.

John.

Don't even worry, you shoulda seen my nipples at 7 weeks post op - they looked mutilated.  They retake their shape eventually.  I saw your pics, you got nothing to worry about
