I've been a little depressed lately because I want so desperately to make the money to get the surgery, and it's coming along so slowly.  I had to drop out of college temporarily and I'm getting decent hours at my part time job, but I'm living paycheck to paycheck with the minimum wage that I get.

I feel like I can't really move on with my life until I get the surgery.  I don't want to go back to college, partly because my gyne is pretty noticeable, and it's very embarrassing.  Also, I'm not dating right now for the same reason.

I know this question is vague, but-- what should I do? I'm at a loss.  Is there a way to get a loan or something? Or pay for the surgery in increments?

I feel so alone and I could use some advice from people who understand my problem.

I hear you, it's tough.  To begin with, you probably shouldn't have dropped out of school.  Reason being, you're never going to be able to save up if you live pay check to pay check.  If I was you, I would immediately  re-enroll for the next semester and try to apply for an additional student loan to cover your procedure.  Aside from that, it's somewhat damn near impossible.  Every bank will turn you away for a loan unless you have a co-signer.  If not, get a second or third job for a few months.

I just wanted to say: DUDE YOU CAN DO IT!!! I took a medical leave of absence from college because I too am very embarrassed of my man boobs to the point where I now have social anxiety and mild depression. When I'm feeling blue I go to the bathroom and take off my shirt to remind myself that I took this leave of absence in order to become a little closer to my ideal self. I know that I will become more confident after my surgery and I will be able to go to college with high self-esteem.

Look at the bright side, you have JOB!  ;D

I am still in search of one! Good luck to you and stay in the fight. I do have two questions to ask you: Did you have a consultation and if so did you ask to see if they have any financial options?

The best jobs are found usually through friends and family. This means that you must get socially connected or you'll likely never have much better than a minimum wage job.  This means that dropping out of school is probably counter-productive.

As for the girls, They have their own issues and our problem with Gynecomastia is not usually a concern for them. They would seem to be more concerned with what is going on between your ears than a bit of surplus tissue on your chest. Any gal that was turned off by your Gyne is probably not the sort of girl you would truly want anyway.

In the short term, give the compression shirts or vests a try. Some guys have found them to be of great help.

Hi Alt Solution,
Sorry about your doping from college but as morpheus11 advised you, you must re-enroll and re-appear in your exams.
As far as the money matters have you thought of health insurance?
