Hey guys, I have a few questions about the surgery, if you could answer any of them I'd be really grateful! :)

1. How long does it generally take to get the operation from consultation time?
2. What's the average recovery time? Or, when's can I remove my shirt without anybody noticing?
3. I won't be able to take any time off of college... will this be a problem?
4. Do most operations result in having to have one of those bags for excess fluids?

Thanks!!

Answers to your questions will vary with your chosen surgeon.

In my practice, you can usually be scheduled for surgery within a few weeks after your consultation.  If you are out of town, then I can do an internet evaluation for you without charge.

Average recovery time will vary according to how much work needs to be done, etc.  On the average, however, my patients are back to sedentary life (ie desk work, college work, etc) within 3-4 days.  You would probably need a few weeks before you could take off your shirt in public.

I very rarely use drains -- but one can never predict in any one case.  Drains are a "safety valve" and their use is dictated by the surgeon's assessment during the operation.
