Question about Right side gynecomastia surgery

Hi everyone,

I'm having the consultation with a surgeon for a right side gynecomastia removal. After an ultrasound scan there was a little tissue found on the left side, but it really isn't noticeable.

My question is, should I get both breasts done? I'm just unsure if my chest is going to look unbalanced if the surgeon takes the right side tissue out completely and there is still some left side tissue.

True one-sided gynecomastia is rare.  Often, one side can be larger than the other, but both sides are affected.

If you have only the larger side done, you run the risk of having the other side look larger after surgery and end up with an asymmetric chest -- which would require yet another operation.

Best to discuss with your surgeon far ahead of your operation date.
