Just checking back in here.

Gyne continues to be painful and grow slowly (52 yo)  - Test = 15 (scale of 9-40, E2 80 (scale of 10-160) LH normal, PRL midscale.

Hormones stable for 6 momths + now. Eat well and exercise regularly.

Going back to the surgeon in a few months and may take the plunge for removal before too much tissue developes - nervous it will grow back though as for some reason tissue is still under stimulation (often feels sore and tingly and continues to grow albeit very slowly).

I was tested very thoroughly 18 months ago and tried various remedies before deciding to let hormones settle and see where we get - Endo and GP are saying we should leave hormones alone, energy and libido OK but not as good as before Gyne.

Thoughts? Anyone on here had the surgery during the florid (growth) phase?

Thanks as always,
Fguss01

Gynecomastia is extremely common in men over 50 due to drop in T level, and I'm seeing advertisements now about how replacement hormones are causing some very bad side effects. I myself lost my testicles in my 30's and stopped HRT because of side effects not related to the ones I hear of today. I'm now 56.

At your age now and the cost of surgery aren't  you afraid your waisting you money?

Hammer,
I respect your position and can see where you are coming from given your situation.

I really hate the Gyne, having been a slim guy for 40 years I suddenly started to get fatter and grow breast tissue - I will do whatever I can by way of diet and exercise to keep myself how I want to be - lean(ish) and fit. If that means surgery then I will certainly consider it as the gyne and stubborn fat deposits cannot be removed by exercise - I have tried believe me.

I dont want to start on Test as unless you are using a lot all that will happen is suppression of natural production and testicular atrophy and I hate drugs in general so this is not an approach for me - I share your view on the sides.

So, I would be happy to spend the money on surgery since for me if would be worth it - I am just worried that I will get regrowth since it aint finished growing yet......i know this all sounds a little vain but it is just really important to me - I dont want to get ripped I just want the shape back that I had for the past 40 years.....and to be able to wear a T shirt again.

Best,

You should hold off until you find the cause. I had low testosterone and high estrogen before surgery and had got it dialed in just in time. There should be a logical reason you're still feeling sensitivity in the chest. A good Dr should be able to get to the bottom of this.

What's your hrt protocol? How many mg of test a week, are you taking hcg, what AI are you using? Surgery does give back a load of confidence and makes life very enjoyable.  I'm almost 40 and am told I look like I'm in my 20's all the time.lol

Jay,
I am guessing that you are in the USA, I live in the UK and here the figures that I have shown above are deemed normal.

I know that increasing the Test/E2 ratio will help but every time I have tried this I ended up with higher Test and higher E2.

The endo did try me on Adex but the only dosage available in the UK is 1mg which is hard to manage as a spread dose.

My preferred route is to not mess with nature in terms of HRT - the slighter lower energy levels and libido post 50yrs are OK with me - its just the Gyne I hate - at some point I am hoping that the growth will stop as my hormone levels are now stable.

Tough one eh?
Thx,
Fguss01

If you stop trt your levels will revert to pre trt after time. That means your E can be off. I also use 1 mg Anastrazole.  I use a pill cutter and cut it into 1/4. I actually take 1/4 and cut that in half and take one piece twice a week.

I would recheck your blood if you can just to see if E is still in range. Keep us posted on your journey. Good luck.
