Estrogen Level Is High

I've had Gnecomastia since I was a teenager. Had lumps in both left and right breasts which were removed back about 18 years ago. Last year, I developed lumps in my right breast (around nipple area) which were removed again. I noticed that the right breast again is getting larger again. This last operation was prefromed by a General Surgion who just removed the lumps and reshaped the breast tissue. I went to my family doctor who did a complete blood workup. My Estrogen level was high. This was due to I have been taking Androgel 1% daily due to about 5 years ago I was very low in Testosterone. Now, my Testonsterone level is high as well as my Estrogen level. If I get my Testosterone level where it should be, my Estrogen level should decrease. My question is, if my Estrogen level lowers to where it should be will my gynecomastia decrease and/or go away? Remind you, it is only my right side. Plus, thinking about going to see a Plastic Surgion in Arizona who deals with Gynecomastia. From reading the posts in here, looks like having Lipo and excission is the way to go. Question is, when the doctor removes the gland does that prevent Gynecomastia coming back in the future? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, I am sorry you had a stupid GP that blindly prescribed androgel to you without any ancillary drugs to prevent a spike in estrogen levels. Always better to seek hormone therapy from a specialist such as an endocrinologist.

Balancing your hormone levels after the fact will not reduce your gyne any unfortunately. It will just prevent it from getting and worse. Having excision and lipo will not necessarily prevent regrowth in the future. The best way to prevent regrowth is to get your hormome balance in check. Surgeons typically do not remove the full gland and leave some behind. Removing the entire gland can cause abnormalities and concavities of the chest typically and leave unwanted contouring. If even the smallest amount of gland is left behind it can remain active and alive for future regrowth. I told my PS to remove it all cause I'd rather have a concaved nipple than puffy nipples ontop of a boob. Even still, no certainty that he got it all. So I could have it return. I checked my hormone levels and I was normal when I checked a few weeks back. So I am happy about that. Good luck to you.
