I had surgery on the NHS 3 weeks ago, the pictures with the tape are after 4 days and the others about 10 mins ago.

Right side is OK can live with it, but I'm a bit worried about the left side as the areola is about two thirds scar tissue and has an indent.

How bad was the gyno before the op??

I'd say I can live with that if you had severe gyno ...

But if you were just trying to rectify a minor case of gyno, the right handside seems like its had too much taken out.

Discuss your concerns when you see your surgeon again but remember, there's no quick fix to be had with this condition. If its like that after 3-6 months you may need a revision. It takes some time for things to settle down. Everyone heals at a different rate.

Thanks for the replies guy's.

The Gyno was more breast tissue than fat and very hard and stuck out about 2" like cones, very firm :-[

I've not had chance to discuss the operation with the surgeon yet as my follow up appointment is not for another week.

The swelling on one side is where there was a fluid build up after about a week. I had to go the the hospital and have it syringed. I was told the bit that was left would go on it's own but it's turned firm and left a sort of bulge.  :-\

Any way I'll have to wait another week, I'm trying to keep my spirit's up but it's hard with all the worry.

All good then ... basically your healing will take slightly longer due to all the ups & downs your having but worry not, eventually the chest will be flat once fat re-circulates and all gaps and holes fill up with muscle again etc. Atleast you got the surgery out the way now!

how long did you wear bandages post op for? assuming you had them?!  Also did you wear a compression vest, and how long for?

Bandages came off after 4 days and I never got a compression vest to wear. There was never any mention of a compression vest from the NHS.

I bought one after reading this forum and I started to wear it in week 2.

Hmmm, all you can do for the timebeing is talk to your surgeon and keep an eye on the healing I'm afraid. Swelling can be quite prevalent after surgery and results often take a good while to bed in. Keep positive!

Get yourself some Arnica tablets from Boots as well ... it'll help the healing process.

i have read that using a compression vest a good few weeks after op to help healing can be important, which might explain some of your 'problems'.  However, this might just mean that you will require a longer period for the healing.  speak to your surgeon asap, or maybe even go and chat to your GP? they might be able to give you some advice.

i have heard NUMEROUS people say it can be anything up to 6 months for the healing process to really do it's job and if you didn't use a compression vest it might take even longer, so don't panic.  these things take time!

all the best

The guy that did it isn't a plastic surgeon but a breast specialist. I presume mostly on women.

I'm due to see him on Tuesday, he better be there. They are very good at sending in the understudy and not showing there own face.
