hey lads, I'm getting the op done ( for puffy nips) this Wednesday, can't wait ;D! I'm Irish and have planned to head to Asia for awhile leaving on the Monday after the op i.e 4 days after it. Just wondering if that was enough time to recover and handle a 12 hr flight?  Cheers!

Hi Irish Rover,

I'm not sure who you are getting it done with, but different surgeons seem to have difffering recovery times, you should ask your doctor.

I went to poland in Jan last for puffy nipples, and guess what? I still have puffy nipples.

Please let us know how you get on.

Re Asia? I personally think it is too soon, perhaps wait a few weeks or a month. It'd be hot there which may not be the best thing with recent wounds needing to heal - I can't imagine the humid heat of asia would be ideal - but I don't know. You'll have to sleep on your back for a while too. My advice would be to delay your trip.

Travel after surgery depends on the problem being treated, surgical technique(s), skill of the surgeon, how you heal, and other factors best discussed with your surgeon.

Here is a post I put up a while ago collecting a number of my patient experiences with surgery and travel:

Quote
I live about 6 hours away from Dr. Bermant - is it possible to get gyno  surgery done that far away?

Or will it be too hard to go back and forth?

How many times would i have to see him after the surgery?

thanks
We see patients from around the world, many much further than 6 hours away. So far this morning, I have talked with and or seen patients from Florida, Montana, New York, and Virginia.  I just recieved an email from one of our patients from Australia.  It was just a picture of him now smiling.  That felt really good, seeing that smile.

Follow-up after surgery depends on the problem to be treated and can be as short as the day after with telephone dressing removal to more frequent office visits for more complex cases.

Almost all of my patients move on with their lives, put their gynecomastia days behind them.  Some do stay on the forums a while to help others.

You can learn more about Gynecomastia and Travel here.  Follow-up depends on the problem to be treated and varies from patient to patient. It can range from just the day after surgery to about 6 days for most cases.  More complicated problems need more after surgery care.  Such issues are best explored during a consultation.
