Eight Weeks After Surgery

I am massaging vigorously.  Lifting hard.  Cardio daily.

Gotta get my diet in check, eating all the right stuff, just a little to much to lose the last 10 or so.  Maybe the carbs should go or at least cut way back.

Since I have been coming to this board and read so many stories about all different types of people with varying degrees of G, I can't help but notice everyone in public who has the problem.  I feel like I know them through you all.  If I see a young teenager with puffy nips but lean and in shape, I know him through your stories.  And I feel that way for each G sufferer I see.

Sometimes I want to tap them on the shoulder and say "check out the G.org message board" or "go see this doc or that doc, he can help". Of course I never do.  Makes me sad to think they are suffering alone.

Nine Weeks After Surgery

Thanks for asking my recovery is going well.

Dr. Jacobs warned me not to look everyday and evaluate, but how can you not?

I feel really good, and look good too.  My results are a huge improvement from the severe G I had, but this interim swelling is bothering me a bit.   I may need a second skin tightening procedure done on at least one side.  But I have to give it until at least September before we see enough of the final results to make that determination.

In the mean time, I am fairly comfortable taking my shirt off.  Just a little less swelling and I may never put my shirt on again.

Still lifting hard.  I do about 90 min/day on weights and another 30min on high intensity cardio 5 days/week.  Try to get a little in on the weekends too, usually light cardio for 45 min.  My weight is dropping slowly, and my muscle tone continues to progress.

Everything is on track and I feel good, just want the final results now, as you can all relate to I am sure.

Ten Weeks and Three Days After Surgery

When should one's G diary stop????

Progress now is gradual, swelling ebbs and flows.

I have kicked my workout routine up, and started to closely watch my calories. I have decided to create a deficit of 1500/day.   Between my cardio, weight training and base metabolic rate, I am around a 4000-4500 calorie burn daily.  Eating should 3000 good calories should give me a 1-3 pound loss/week.

Looking to shed a final 10-15lbs.

I guess take my diary to monthly or as needed posts.   I next see Dr. J in September.  That will be interesting.  With the swelling down, he should be able to figure out if I need to have some skin tightened to get a final result.

Eleven Weeks After Surgery

These are crazy times.  The weather is hot, summer is really here and I have never looked better.  My chest is greatly improved and I have been working out hard since November, I have never had this much fun.  I am excited to go in the pool.  I love going to the gym and lifting.  I have NEVER felt this good about my appearance.  And you know it is all about how I feel, don't really care if anyone else notices or not, I am having a ball

Here comes the BUT.

But, I am slowly coming to the realization that I am going to need that skin tightening to finally put my G behind me forever.  No ones fault.  As I posted way back at surgery time Dr. Jacobs clearly explained that due to my severity, age, and previously being overweight that there was always a good chance a second smaller procedure was going to be needed.  As a matter of fact  I could have had a full matsectomy with nipple relocation and gotten it all done at once, the doctor offered me that option.  After discussing with my wife and the doc I decided to go this route.

I'm not bummed really at all.  In fact the idea that my chest will get better still is kind of exciting.  I have made it a personal goal to get in great shape before I see the doc again in September so if I do need the procedure I come out of it in great shape.

This is a crazy good summer.  I can only imagine what the summer of 09 will be like.

Twelve Weeks After Surgery

When I was in High School, 22 years ago, I went to a work party.   I worked at a local restaurant and a bunch of us had small party at a one of their houses.  Back then I ran with the in crowd.  I played football.  I had it all going on, only with man melons.  Anyway at this party a game of strip poker broke out.  Two chics I was really into were both playing along with three other girls and 4 guys. I was the 5th guy, only I couldn't. I could not stand the thought of having to shed my shirt and then continue to play.   I though of playing but leaving my shirt on and leaving it for last, but that was crazy.  So I left. I left the room went back to the kitchen where there were some others who were not interested in playing hanging out, but I WAS interested in playing, BADLY!!!  I did not last long with the kitchen crowd.  I soon left.  In short order I was home alone bummin.

Get the surgery young, while there are still card games to play.

I just had surgery at 40, glad I did.  Still had a lot of fun, but boy did I miss out on a lot.  Anyone know of any 40+ strip poker games still being played?

I Have Lost Track of Time Since Surgery

Headed out to the beach tomorrow.  Going for a week with the wife and kids.  I am pumped.

My chest continues to change as I lift and heal.  I think a little skin tightening will be in order to finalize everything.  If you guys could see my chest you would say the same.  However if you could see where I started you would agree the improvement is remarkable.

Loving this summer.  I think next year will be even better.

Surgery Back In April

I went to a waterpark yesterday, shirtless.  That sentence is the best one I have ever written.

OK Recalculated, I am 16 Weeks Post OP

Summer has been great, but now that August is here I am starting to wind it down.   I see Jacobs again in one month.  I want to lose as much weight as I can until then.

I know I have read here on the board in several places that many guys after surgery realize they have a gut and focus on that.  It must be natural to always turn toward your weakest feature and work on it.  I now view that as my next challenge however I don't want to dwell on it, just work toward improvement sanely.

Nearly 5 Months After Surgery

Here we go; one final step.

After 40 years, 50lbs in weight loss, and a first surgery, I am headed in for skin tightening next Thursday for a final step.  Jacobs will use a local anest. and should take about an hour.

This is really it. I was hopeful I would not need this step, but after nearly 5 months, the Doc and I agree it is needed.

I have held off on pictures because of this step.  Soon after surgery I will post.

Much less of a deal than the first.  He will be able to do it in about an hour. I do not need an escort.  I won't even need to be knocked out, he will use local.

Not sure on the recovery though.  I think he said a binder for a while for the swelling, and a week to be fully recovered.

CANT WAIT

Skin Tightening Surgery Tomorrow

This past summer has been a lot of fun.  Dr. Jacobs even commented on how good I look in shirt.

Tomorrow we take care of the shirt off look.
