The nurse said to remove/change the plasters after 7 days - if some of the incisions aren't healed then reapply plasters to those sites only. I thought I'd probably take a shower to loosen up the plasters then remove them and take a look. If I'm certain they're all healed I might jump back in the shower - if not, I reckon play it safe for a couple more days and put the plasters back on. Not sure how the nips will cope under this vest with no plasters either....

Not looking forward to removing these nip plasters - it's gonna hurt!

Any news for you yet Jock?

I spoke with Jackie today, she has received the letter from my Cardiologist, I got her to read the letter to me. He says there is a very slight risk of my pacemaker wires having moved over the last 3 years, so it sounds like he may recommend an x-ray to clarify they are still in the correct position. Unfortunately Mr K is out till mon pm, so I will not get things arranged till after that.

She said there was one slot on Feb 24, otherwise it would be into March.

So, Day seven:

 Took the plasters off today. All healed up and I'm really surprised how small the nipple incisions are. I showered and washed the incision sites and have left the plasters off now. I have a raised area around the armpit incisions but I think this is where the plasters have been. I know it's early days but I'm really happy with the results. What a life changer!

I think Mr K said he provides 1 compression vest, how are you coping with it, do you reckon it would be better to have a couple??

Or Would I be able to put on and underworks T shirt after a few days ?

Jock - You get given two vests. You wake up in one and they give you the other when you leave. I've been alternating which has been cool. You have to keep the vest on day and night for 2 weeks (except for a few minutes of luxury while you shower!)

I think you'd be better to stick with the vest rather than the underworks t-shirt but you could check with the nurse. Also, raising your arms above your head is pretty much impossible for the first week. The vest is pretty discrete and is invisible underneath an normal shirt.

How did you get on with removing the plasters Danny?

  That's me sorted for Dr. Karidis, Thursday 26th February  Just 4 weeks till I get this sorted, got to have an x-ray and blood test the day before, just delighted to know I am working towards a set date.

Awesome news Jock!  4 weeks will fly by! By the way, in the week leading up to the op I took Vitamin C and Iron supplements and Berocca. I did it to avoid getting ill before the anesthetic but I think it's really helped with the speedy recovery too. That's my own absolutely non-qualified theory so might be complete b*ll*cks... but you never know 

Anyway, all is progressing well thanks. The bruising reduces daily and as of Day 12 I pretty much have full movement back in my arms and chest. Went to the gym and did some gentle cardio stuff yesterday and I even made it down the pub in the evening for the first pint in a few weeks. I'm also looking forward to Thursday when I can start wearing the vest at nighttime only! 

Surgery - Still the best decision I ever made 

I don't know how Danny D's getting on though??! Possible theories:

1. He took the plasters off - results so good he got on the first flight to Barbados and is now sitting, chest out, on a beach??? or,
2. He took plasters off - results so good, he's still stood speechless in front of the mirror

When you read the cancellation policy, then there is quite a financial incentive not to be ill and cancel the surgery.

I think if you're genuinely ill it's not a problem - I just didn't want to get ill and delay having the op!

I'm enjoying my first day with the vest off - Feels abit weird but I'm loving wearing a t-shirt and looking.... normal!?!  It's seems all my T-shirts are a size too big for me now - and baggy round the neck where I used to pull them out! Am looking forward to hitting the shops and buying some of the tops I've liked but I haven't been able to wear 'cos of the gyne
