I'm still waiting to see evidence of marihuana induced gyne. People claim a lot of things but where is the scientific evidence ?  It has not been proven that marihuana affects hormones levels.

people have posted links to studies on the subject here, don't think i have it, but i read through the paper before.  it doesn't guarantee you'll get it, it just improves the odds.

let's skip the five page pot thread for this month  ;)
* a man is more than a body will ever tell
* if it screws up your life the same, is there really any such thing as "mild" gyne?

Problem is, for each study that confirms this another one exists denying it. I don't believe the statistical link you're referring to has really been confirmed.

I have a hard time believing that smoking once in a while would full-blown cause gynecomastia to return after surgery..  however, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of correlation. I do feel it is possible for someone who smokes a few times a week to re-develop gyne. Before I had surgery I smoked once every week or 2 and I honestly felt like the glandular tissue I had was kind of pulsating.. almost like it was enlarging in response to the marijuana. I never noticed any big changes but I wonder if had I never smoked pot after my gyne developed as a young teen, if it may have resolved on its own. Sometimes I feel like my smoking so much back then may have caused the tissue to become fibrous and permanent.

Personally, I haven't smoked once since my surgery which was in early April. It's hard for me to say I would never smoke again. But I will never smoke often again. I may do it once every 2 months.. if that... or I might just not do it at all. I'm finally at a point where I feel comfortable taking my shirt off in front of people for the first time in about 10 years. The LAST thing I want to do is take any chances. Having gyne for 10 years was miserable enough. If I spent over 6k on surgery and had it return..  I'd probably want to dive off a cliff. Not really a chance I'm comfortable taking.

Yes...a very tall cliff..with a bed of broken glass at the bottom. It isn't worth it. Having been on both sides (shirt on/shirt off..) having it come back is has been the death of my social life once again. It is like I haven't missed a beat, straight back to 7 years ago. Slouching, can't wear that shirt, changing clothes 5 times before i go out, jeez I forogt how much fun hating yourself can be. Drop the weed.

Hey man, I meant to tell  you on the other thread: in my opinion, you should probably look into your weight variation as a cause for your gyne coming back...I really don't mean to be harsh here. I know you're already going through hell.

No problem..You are hardly being harsh. The thought had crossed my mind a time or two. I do find it odd that it took so long to come back, surely if I were that sensitive to marijuana it would have done this sooner?? Maybe maybe not, it is impossible to really know for sure I suppose. My surgeon ( upon seeing him after it started to come back ) did say that weight fluctuations can mess with hormone levels. He also said that a large weight gain causes an increase in feminizing hormones, and can trigger recurrance. At this point I don't know and I don't really care. I just want to focus on getting back in the great shape I was a few years ago, not smoking, and getting these damn things taken care of.

This post is about a friend, and this is a total hypothetical scenario (FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY)

I just want to tell you I have had 3 surgeries guys, first I had just a lipo which wasn´t good, 2 years after that I decided to get a proper surgery with excison + lipo. Then I wasn´t satisfied cause the doc left some gland and according to me also some fat, so I had my third revision. I´ve been living in Amsterdam for 5 months after my surgery where weed is actually legal as you all may know.  I have been #### every god damn day, and I am talking huge amounts,  why? I am an exchange student in amsterdam, and I have the money (closing all the questions about that :).      I can tell you the truth. I know everybody is different and definitely reacts differently to different drugs.   It is like steroids I suppose,  some people get "bitch-breasts / gynecomastia" and some actually don´t.    Why?   The answer is our bodies react different to different "medications"  or drugs.              How will you know if this is the case?        IF your breasts actually would "grow" from this, then they should grow "unlimited". Meaning, if you are continuing with your habit then your moobs should grow in the same pace. I mean, if there would be a correlation, one would be able to draw the conclusion that any growth should be related to the amount you are taking in.          Considering all the lame BS I actually end up reading on the internet, I am talking about claims such as that one should "stay away from alcohol" or avoid certain things are not good. Just because we had a surgery doesn´t mean we need to give up everything fun in life.

I can tell you that after my second surgery I did not "do that" and the feeling I had was the same as "when doing it".   I think that any person like us that has had gynecomastia actually is a bit "obsessive" about it. We check our moobs every day to look for minor changes, any change we find we try to blame it on something.

Well I believe our moobs DO change, but not because of weed, alcohol or this and that.  They change because of lack of training / proper exercise,   and gaining weight.    I believe that is the only CORRECT link.

Okay, I tried a lot of different substances / chemicals during my amsterdam trip.  And to be honest, guys, I am questioning the claims about MJ causing it.

If you have had a proper excision and a lipo.        The only thing that´s going to make your breasts look different is if you gain A LOT of weight.

Smoking some doobies / drinking some alcohol.         Heck everybody is doing it, then everybody should have moobs for christ sake.

I tend to avoid beer though, that is the only thing I EVIDENTLY have seen make peoples bodies look deformed. Could it be because of the yeast and amount of calories it contains? I believe so!

I mean I´ve read all sorts of weird stuff on the net,  AVOID SOYA,  avoid alcohol,  avoid certain plants that MIGHT contain "phyto-estrogens"  <--- come on.

Sure we can avoid all these things, but having them once in a while, or well yeah, I overdid the first thing I mentioned (doobies).  and by overdid I mean severely, as in: every god damn day and pretty much on top of that.

Okay I have not had any problems, the thing that happens is you become more paranoid, you start suspecting things, and you might think that yourmoobs have grown actually. I think this is a psycho paranoia - telling you this because I´ve had it myself, even putting "plasters/band-aids" on my nipples tightening them while I smoked so I wouldn´t have to think about them, or try to look at them  from different angles to try to find a change, or something defect.

After all this crap I´ve done, and when I look at my chest,  the conclusion I can draw is,   it doesn´t look as good as it did post surgery, maybe 2 months, I mean it is not as flat as I wanted it to be, bt that is the way my chest is built, it is still qiute flat and good looking.. I should actually take some photos and upload if anyone wants to see to make their own judgement, would be nice with some feedback as well.

But yeah, I mean my gland has NOT been affected at all, I called my surgeon and I asked them,  if I consume "ANYTHING" out of the ordinary, (not pure hormones of course I said).  is there a "big" risk of my gynecomastia recurring, or my chest become bigger again? They laughed and said definitely no

Now I read now and then about people who CLAIM they got gynecomastia from smoking that.  I believe these people have got it "hereditary" or it´s been in the genes and it was not active until 13-14 , that was my case I believe.   OR these people gained weight, or were already overweight,   or these people have something "wrong" with their hormone-levels,  something which would require a check from a "so called" endocrinologist which would check all your "values"  and your "blood levels" I believe,  well levels of what you have in it, health y stuff, someone help me here? :)

Can somebody comment on this?       DO you now agree that the people that claim they got gynecomastia from it may have had other factors that CANNOT be ruled out as the main causes instead of the easy way they are taking,  blaming it on the doobies?

I do not want to be an advocate of it, I just want the god damn truth,  it is quite frankly annoying not to know,   but I believe in my story, and it would be HORRIBLE if it actually would be a contributing factor of substance,  I mean to the level of that you would notice if just through some occasional use, or even some proper "BINGE" for a couple of months.  Then one should be scared of everything?

I would also like to know the answer to this question. I'm on my fourth day post op and everything is looking good. However, I was also about to start using medical marijuana for my schizophrenia. My doctor told me he definitely thought the medical marijuana would help, but I'm really scared my gland will reappear. I just turned 18 and I had gyne since I was around 13, when I was overweight. My dad also has gyne, since he was a kid (I'm assuming genetic). Could anyone please help? I'm looking for a very definitive answer because I would really like to use the medical marijuana. I will be very honest and say that I am not only excited for it to help with my condition, but I always wanted to experiment with it. However, I can't imagine my gyne coming back. I would appreciate any and all help.

The famous study is one done in the 1970s that did link marijuana use to gynecomastia, however, more modern ones have refuted this claim. I think they have found some correlation - that is, if you gathered any 1000 chronic marjiuana users and any 1000 non-marijuana users, the incidence of gyno will always be higher in the former. Researchers have not been able to definitively establish a causal relationship, though. Maybe the reason for this correlation is that chronic marijuana users (on average) tend to take much less care of their bodies (think munchies) and this could lead to fat + production of estrogen/moobs, rather than any specific properties of the drug causing breast growth.
