Uh oh... Answered my own question... I didn't wear my vest for yesterday and today (a little over two weeks post op) and I found that my nipples started getting puffy and my chest started swelling and looking beefy! Looks like I worked out, hahaha except for the slighty pointyish nipple. But I expected swelling to be part of the healing process so I'm not alarmed or anything - if anything, I kinda look at my chest like an
experiment and I can't wait to see what's next in the healing process. Honestly, after dealing with the hassles of hiding manboobs for so long, I find this part fun. Does that make me weird?? Probably! Now, my right nipple looks great, almost all healed but my left one is still creased and the nipple is indented.  I try to stretch the nipple out so it comes out of hiding but nothing happens... Has anyone had creased nipples that resolved themselves during the healing process? Fielding said it would go away, so I hope it does. Also when I try to raise my left arm over my head in a full extension it feels like someone is pulling on my upper abs and causing discomfort. Is that normal???
Oh and that hardness and lumps and stuff that everyone complains about has set in... I noticed listas patients massage them, but fielding never told me anything about massage. Does it help or hinder? I know they use different techniques...
Ok... I should sleep. And don't worry I'm wearing my vest!

I didn't wear my vest today... Is that bad?

Dude.... you are 15+ days post-op. Ditch the vest my man... Be free!!!   ;)

You don't need to massage the hard scar tissue. Just be patient and let MoNa work her magic. Scar tissue will dissipate on it's own... just give it time.  ;)

close up of chest...

the dark marks around the nipple are the result of taping my nipples down with medical tape for about 2 years. hopefully the marks will fade with time. the darkness at the edges of my nipple are the scabs from the stitches.  looks like my nipples got darker too... hmm.

How about that crease in your left nipple. Do you suspect that will improve with time?

since I can't exercise I've been eating really well. Massive delicious salads
with sliced grilled chicken breast and lots of water... Mind u my body drops weight v quickly when I eat right... But piles it on very quickly when I eat crap... Lol!

it seems to be a common problem after surgery that ends up correcting itself by 6 months according to others on the board that have had it. So all I can do is stay positive and hope for the best, or as GB says " let MoNa do her thing"

I'll see him for a 3 month post op at the end of nov so I guess I'll pass more judgement then. For now, it's my retarded little nipple... Hahaha.

I found that my right nipple was puffy by the end of the day yesterday so I'm going to use the vest at night while I sleep for a few more days to help with all that.

hey guys.. here's an update. exactly 6 weeks post op!

so my left chest looks ok.. the swelling and hard lumps has gone down a lot.. there is still some hard lumpage below the nipple, but it looks like the creasing that was going on before is starting to resolve... STARTING to resolve.. very SLOWLY! lol.. in the mornings it looks normal, but sometimes when i check randomly throughout the day, its creased.. its almost like its a groundhog or something. goes into hiding, comes out of hiding. etc etc.

it does feel like there is a depression/crater around the left nipple where the gland was removed from, but i have a feeling that it will fill in with fat/muscle/somesortoftissueexceptbreast eventually.

the right chest has a lot of lumpage and hardness under the nipple and the nipple has become a bit puffy as a result, but nothing like it was before.

so i'm still wearing all the nice thin knited sweaters i was never able to wear.

let me tell you how amazing late summer/early fall has been. for the first time in my life to just pull out a t shirt and jeans and feel confident! for the first time to wear a thin sweater that defined my chest as opposed to a baggy one that hid it! i feel amazing! i'm not wearing those annoying wifebeater vests anymore! not more  tight shirts under my clothing! i just wear what i want and GO!

so i'm happy clothed. unclothed, i still have to let my body do its healing before i can make any final decisions.

will keep u guys updated and try to post a pic soon.

cheers,
actorboob!

hey everyone!

its been a while, thought i'd leave a little update. it seems a few other ppl are getting creases in their nipples post surgery.

i am now just past 4 months since my surgery and slowly, but surely, the creases are going away.

I went in for my 3 month post op and told Dr Fielding my concerns and he said that my scarring around the nipple and under the skin was a bit heavier than normal have and it should all dissapate by the one year post op mark. he's advised me to do massages if i wanted to move things along faster. They are PAINFUL (so i dont do them! hehehee), as you have to actually stretch out the scar tissue and damage it. he said what causes the lumps, indentations and creases post op are due to scar tissue connecting from the muscle to the skin at funny angles and it pulls it everywhich way.

i can tell you right now that my left nipple has improved remarkably. the tip is still slightly indented, but the crease has almost all but gone.

he said the massages would help the healing process move along faster... i SHOULD do it.. but i'm just letting mother nature do its thing.. haha.

other than that.. not much going on at my end... life is great.. i've got to wear all these nice clothes now and not worry about my chest. i'm planning on starting p90x in the new year... i started last year, but hurt myself coz i was too gung ho about it.

i'll take it easier this time.

hey, it's nice to hear that your surgery went well. If you remember, I had surgery on the same day as you.. (aug. 26, right?) Unfortunately, after 5 months my chest isn't to my expectations. Dr. fielding told me I was completely flat after the surgery, and at the very end, that's what I'll go back to, but im so scared it won't turn out that way... i dont have any pics, but i can assure you that my right side looks no better than it did pre op. he told me this was due to scar tissue about a month ago, and he told me to massage it to break it down. I'm massaging, but after a month i've seen no improvement... in fact, my chest has pretty much looked the same since mid october so i'm getting pretty desperate here. I'm not overly picky, either. if it was slightly puffy then i wouldn't really care. even dr. fielding told me that if this was the final result, he wouldnt be happy either. you guys can also see my post in the post surgery and healing section.. what do you guys think of the situation? i'm getting extremely depressed...

Hi everyone,

I'm giving you all a 10 month post op update!

I'm pretty happy with my results.. i think i'll have to go in for a revision to correct my scarring tho. i have heavy keloid scars on both my nipples. It's bad because during sex my gf thought the scars were my hard nipples. LOL!

Also, the indentation and donut around my left nipple are still there. The crease is not as deep as it was, but it is still there.

Flexing causes funny crease lines on both sides of my chest, more so on my left.

I will probably arrange an appt soon. Will keep u all updated

Overall I am happy and I'm deffo enjoying the weather a lot better this summer - light t shirts and jeans and i'm good to GO! WOOHOO!

Cheers!
