Hey guys so I've posted here about 3 weeks ago and most of you said I had gynecomastia, so I decided to get it confirmed by a surgeon.

He has confirmed it and I have surgery scheduled in 3 weeks, but after reading on the internet, I see SO MANY people posting that they got their gynecomastia back very shortly after surgery, how often does this actually happen ? I'm not going to take any steroids or hormones after.

I have read if your gynecomastia hasn't completeley developed and yet get the surgery, then they will come back, but how does one know that they've stopped growing. I know it sounds obvious, by looking at it ... duh. I look at mine near everyday and I sometimes think it's gotten worse and sometimes better, so I really can't tell.

Is it meant to hurt or be tender or itch or something for it to be growing ? I am 19 and in very good shape I train very hard and diet very strictly, but just have mild case of gynecomastia, I am only getting gland excision and no liposuction.

Time in the gym is a big big part of my life, so I don't want to have to take another month off because it came back, how can one be sure that their gynecomastia growth has come to an end and that it won't come back ?

He also said he's going to leave some glandular tissue there after surgery otherwise nipple will collapse, what do you guys think ???

Here are some photos ... as you can see very mild, but enough to bother someone who does everything possible to improve his physique

Please help me I'm stressing my head off !!! Thanks for your time

Hello Mate,

I personally had all the gland out and i never had a nipple collapse, whats the point in paying all that money to have surgery and leaving a little bit in? Then you still have gyno still and in my view when you cut you will be able to notice this behind the nipple?

Also alot of people complain post op of the gland returning post op, In many cases this is scar tissue which will srink around 1 year post op.

Gym downtime your looking at least 3weeks down time and when you do go back you must start on 10kg again and work your way back up on chest this is what i did to avoid damaging my chest.

Any question just pm me.
Also you can check my thread before this post for all pictures pre and post op. (There is also a video on there now i just uploaded.

I agree with Jake concerning the matter of leaving some of the gland behind. I had 2 gyno surgeries and im 26. The first surgery the doc left a small amount of gland for cosmetic reasons. Well.. after a year or so it grew right back to its original size.

It is rather common for  man to post within a couple of weeks and say that his condition is as bad as ever. Most of these guys gradually dissappear from the site when they realize that they were only concerned about some post operative swelling that eventually subsided.

This is not to say that there are not some cases where revision surgery is needed, obviously there are cases like that. The point that I want to make is that there not as many such cases as would seem, many are simply not waiting long enough to see the true final result.

Please do not make the mistake of thinking that I am in any way covering for the Doctors. I still have mine and think acceptance of self is better than surgery. Even so, if you want to get rid of the condition, surgery is the only reliable way.

Damn, thank you for all the constructive responses !

So what should I do ? Seeing as there is no point of undergoing the surgery if my gynecomastia has not stopped growing as it can just grow back, how can I know that the growth has stopped ? Is there any method of diagnosing it ?

Judging by eye I can't really tell ... :S

man, you hardly have it, but I see where you're coming from.

So anyhow, mine is scheduled for November 1st.  My doctor just had me do some testosterone and endocrinology blood work today to ensure that was all well. As I understand it, if those things are out of whack and you end up getting the surgery, well then the moobs can come back.  My suggestion, go see your doctor, not the surgeon first.  Ask him to do blood work to rule out any potential underlying issues. If that comes back all straight, then consider getting the surgery.

Best of luck!

Same day haha hope both of ours go well, are you getting knocked out ? Or are you just going local anesthetic ?

Do you think it'd be smarter for me to go to my GP and get a blood test before the surgery and ask to test my test / estrogen levels ? What other things should I test for that could potentially cause gynecomastia to come back ? Is it only the estrogen ?

Cheers

There is many causing known to cause gynecomastia but not 100% proved, the main being steroids, Weed/joint/draw/splif how ever you name it lol, I read an article about creatine in pre work out supplements sometimes cause it not 100% sure about this but i dropped creatine anyways.

haha, same day.  hopefully it's life changing.

regarding your question, my surgeon said I didn't need any tests, but just to be sure, I went to my primary doctor who did the testosterone and endocrinology tests anyway.  I'm still waiting for the results since I just had them done yesterday, but i don't think i have any problems with testosterone levels. my  moobs appeared in high school and stayed the same until mid twenties when i gained a bit of weight.  I've never really been overweight so they didn't start bothering me a lot until that weight came on, which is coincidentally, around the same time I was using creatine to put on some muscle.  now, it's not a direct correlation, but I do think it may have messed with my hormones a bit.

as for my anesthesia, my surgeon said it would be local plus IV sedation, which from what I understand, is not the same thing as general anesthesia.

how about yourself? what kind of sedation?  are you just doing gland excision or gland and lipo?

Yeah bloody hope it goes well, man 3/4 weeks off gym is going to be tough but it will be worth it, I just hope it does not fucking come back ! I have read SO many people on the internet saying it came back and bla bla, but like some of the other posters said, it might of just been scar tissue and they were being impatient.

And yeah same, my surgeon was like yeah you don't need any tests you should be good, but I think I'm going to get one anyways, not gonna cost me any money, I'll see if I can get one today, I'm not sure if it's going to be a problem though if I get one done today because I have to get another blood test in 2 weeks for the surgery. Am I meant to have some time spaced in between each blood tests ?

I doubt it's from creatine, creatine is no more than an amino acid, creatine is also found in fish and red meat !

Yeah I'm only undergoing local anesthetic too, so going to be awake while they cut my bloody chest open haha, mate I'm so bloody scared the stuff is going to wear off half way through and I start feeling it, mine is only VERY mild and is only taking about 30 minutes each side, no liposuction just gland excision.

Man hope all goes well for the both of us ! And that it doesn't bloody return !
