The physical point of view, distance from lens to subject, can change the visual effects dramatically.  I am giving 3 photos here from 3 distances.  The perspective would be unchanged by a change in focal length of the lens.  It is entirely an artifact of distance and placement of the lens in relation to 3D objects.  The number in the title of each picture is the approximate distance in inches from camera to sternum surface.  Each successive photo is about twice as far as the previous.  Photos from close distances, say within an arms length appear substantially distorted by relative size and perspective.
