Has anyone had to wait a really long time until their operation date?

I had a consultation last week and really loved the doctor. He has superb reviews and everything. When I called today to set everything up she gave me a date of June 13th (!!!). I understand they are extremely popular here in the North NJ (NYC area) but more than 4 months away for a 90 min operation? She re-assured me by saying people drop out all the time and it's easy to get bumped up based on how short my operation is. 

Has anyone here experienced anything similar? I'm not trying to rush things but I'm in between jobs and wanted to do this one thing at a time. I also have my best friend's wedding (that I'm in the party of)not too much after that date and don't wanna be wearing my vest at that point.

I am sure, if you researched carefully, that you could find a surgeon who has availability earlier than 4 months in the future.  The NYC area has a lot of good surgeons who could do a great job for you!
