Hello. Lurked on this forum for awhile. I always thought that I was just over weight. My Gyne started when I was like ten or so and plateaued around 13-14. In any case, my parents never thought to take me to the doctor about this, and my story is similar to everyone else's. I always knew something was actually wrong and that working out wouldn't fix it. Despite this I lived in denial about it and attempted to work it off. I have had the same confidence issues as the others, but thankfully it's never hindered my ability to attract or be with women. It is only recently though that I realized that it is Gyne, I had never heard the term for it, though I always knew there was something strange about the rubbery tissue behind the nipple. I finally got the nerve to go to a doctor, he got me to do blood tests, nothing abnormal about my hormones. Then I went to see another doctor and he said "some people just gain more fat on their chest". Well this seems like BS to me. I have an appointment with my family doctor soon but I want to know what I should tell him to take this seriously. Also, does anyone know how to get this surgery covered by Canadian public insurance? I live in NS. Apparently there are exceptions that they will cover, but I don't know what they are.

My story is very similar.  I had these since I was ten myself.  Never hurts to see if the insurance will cover it.  But odds are not likely.  I have been saving up for a year and now I have the money to get the surgery done.  I lifted weights, ran, did everything I ever could to lose this chest but always remained.  Just tell the doc you have done everything and they are still there.

my surgery was covered, i just told my doctor that i was going through stress and depression and barely left the house, they still told me its not covered, i got home after the consulation and they gave me a call telling me my surgery is in 4 weeks (they called me a month ago, surgery was yesterday) and i will be covered.
