5 Weeks Post-op:

Doesn't time fly??

Well, had a week of not wearing the vest at night, which feels nice. Interestingly I've got so used to sleeping on my back over the initial few weeks, I still do now.

Biggest change probably is the noticeable creases on nips. I *think* what this is is where the general swelling of the chest area is coming down, directly around the nips seems to be a bit slower, and also a little bit of fluid there. I guess it sort of collects at the bottom of the 'pockets' caused by the surgery? Not overly concerned at the moment, just a bit annoying!

Trying to keep up wth nice long massage couple of times a day, but have missed past two days as just been so busy with stuff. Must find time tonight for a good one, as it seems to help.

So plan for coming week is again to wear vest all day, but not in bed at night. Hoping the creases start to go down soon!

Here are my 5-weeks pics.  Not had the time to prepare the side-by-side shots as they take a while to do - but will be doing at some point soon as I want to see too!

P.S. congrats to the guys who have recently had surgery - now get your threads and photos up so we can follow you too  :P

looking good! what camera you use? Your photos are fantastic and show the results well. My iphone 5 perhaps doesn't do justice...

Hi Jamie - camera is quite an old Sony digital... I'm just careful to always have the camera tripod and me stood in exactly the same places (by reference to floor tiles!) - then drop the photos into photoshop to tweak up the contrast a bit, which really brought out the bruising to worse than it actually looked in real-life, but the idea was to show how much of chest was affected by the bruising etc.

I just had the surgery with Karidis, I literally just got home. I was feeling sleepy earlier in the hospital but when I tried to sleep, I couldn't. I'm home now just gonna try to stay awake until around 9PM and then sleep if I can lying on my back. I can feel the slight chest pain, feels like you have just done 50 push ups or been punched in the chest. It's not too bad. How long does that pain last?

I wish I could be 2 months post op already lol.

Congrats on your surgery!

I honestly had almost zero pain at all from the op, didn't take any painkillers at all after leaving hospital (and declined half of them there too!) - the most discomfort I got was under my arms from the compression bandage, but that was nothing major. Some people seem to get a lot of pain, some little. Guess it is down to the individual and also how much damage is done to nerves during the actual surgery?

Just follow all the advice, keep up compression as long as possible, and think of summer time T-shirts!

7 Weeks Post-op:

and here I am at 7 weeks...

(not using quite so much contrast enhancing on the photos now that all the bruising has gone)

Still got a bit of fluid on the right nip I think - I popped in to see Mr Levick on Tuesday and he drained out another 2ml of fluid, he says it will go on its own eventually!  Also said the crease in that nip may be due to a bit of adhesion/scarring - and again hopefully it will go eventually in time and with massage etc.

Lots of lumps and bumps and swelling, probably don't show up in the photos. Tried leaving the vest off nights a week ago, but think the swelling increased, so I've been in vest 24/7 again for past week. It doesn't bother me now really - used to it!  As Mr Levick says, you can't have compression too tight or for too long! - tighter and longer the better for best possible result...

I know it can be difficult to capture everything on camera so I'll take your word for the little gripes you have but on the whole, your chest looks great!

You've got a longggg way to go with regards to healing, just sit tight and these things should sort themselves out.

Thanks Ricardo!

Yeh, I know I must be patient... But it's easier said than done when its your turn to be patient!

Got access to a better camera now, so will attempt to get some better pics next week - though you have to compress the hell out of them to fit in with the stupidly low file-size limits of this site!!!  >:(

Might have to shave again too - getting too furry to see what's going on!  ::)

Almost at the 8-week point, and right now I'm not very happy  :(

Left side not too bad, but right nipple getting worse by the day, even with compression vest still on 24/7.

Skin is just loose and baggy and saggy around the nip, whereas on the left side it seems pretty much as tight and firm as anywhere else on body.

Will see if can get some photos of the problem tmrw morning, and will be emailing them to Mr Levick too.

If the "layers" haven't stuck themselves back together now after almost 2 months, concerned they never will do and I'm going to be left with this baggy skin issue where I can't even wear a t-shirt, let alone go topless!

Did anyone else have this problem?

This is what years of gynecomastia does to you... You already have a great result and still feel like you don't look good, not even in a t-shirt(?!).
I've followed your thread from the start and I have seen great progress and the results in the latest pictures is in my mind very good. No, not perfect, but you are closer to 50 than 20 years of age, and with that comes slower healing and you had ALOT of gland removed. Considering how you looked before I'd personally give your new chest a 8 or 9 out of 10 based on the pictures.
You said you where ready for the rollercoaster of healing, now STICK TO THAT, be positive and remember, in the end, Levick will fix you if results aren't good after a year. However, I believe most of your conserns is in your head.

I had my surgery with Levick 6 weeks ago (flew all the way from Sweden to get it done by the master) and I couldn't be happier. Is it perfect? No. Did I expect perfection? No. I do however have a flat chest now and I have never been happier with my body. I now walk with a pride posture and also smile more, and you should to!

You're right... it's the roller-coaster! - I'll just be glad when it starts going uphill again!!

Might come as a shock to some to hear I'm not dancing around the place topless on cloud 9 - but I'd be telling lies if I said I was - and there is no point me documenting this whole process if I'm not honest about it and don't record the lows as well as the highs is there?

What is annoying is that the left side is pretty good, and the right side isn't. Of course, that is partly to do with the seroma I had afer the op, which puts that side a couple of weeks behind the other with regards to healing... but this 'loose skin' thing never happened on the left side at all. I think there is still a little bit of fluid in there preventing the 'layers' from sticking back together again somehow.

It is having the left side to compare with that gives me something to measure against and know that the right side is a world apart - if both sides were like the right hand side, then I guess I'd just accept that's how it was meant to be... but when one side is pretty good, you can't help but be disappointed when the other side isn't so good?

I don't think any of us expect perfection? - we'd be setting ourselves up for failure if we did... especially as you rightly say the older guys like me(!)

Just like (almost) everyone before me, and no doubt just like everyone (almost) who will come after me, as each part of the process completes (surgery, bruising, swelling, etc.) the next part is brought sharply into focus. The problem I have at the moment is undoubtedly much less than I had before, but there is still a problem. In a t-shirt, it looks like I've got 2 very weird nipples on the right hand side!!

Here's a pic:

Donut thanks for your inspiration I got my surgery today! What you have to keep in mind is that numerous surgeons on this site have said time and time again that if you have a good result right after surgery than thats how your result will look so relax my brotha. Marathon not a race and remember how much time you had to live with it so give it time to heal. After late 20's the body heals slower, ive seen guys on this site in their early 20's that were back to normal life in a matter of a few weeks. I need you to relax because im right behind you trailblazer!!!!

That does look strange mate, what does it feel like? As in fluid, swelling or gland?

Has Levick replied with any advice?

As you say your other side looks amazing.

It doesnt look strange ,as you can see once the swelling on the left side settles down it will even out with the right. Trust Mr Levick, all you hear is nothing but good reviews on him. If I didnt stay in the states he would be my first choice. Give it time.......
