So Ive had Gynecomastia since puberty, started off small and eventually in my late teens grew some more and one got bigger than the other (my right one). It's really ruined my teenage years, just from wearing T-Shirts during the summer, to going swimming, going on hot holidays. Just as many of you know effects your life in a huge way especially mentally, it's all I think about and look at in the mirror.
I'm now 21 and I finally built up the guts to talk to my family about it, brother first and then spoke to my mother. Luckily she offered to pay for it for me, which I had no intentions of happening so that was a huge bonus which I'm so grateful for especially as I understand some people don't have the money straight away for this kind of thing or have parents that can afford to pay out that kind of money rather quickly. So I feel very lucky. (Plus I can now still get my new TV I've been saving for that I was going to ditch to put the money into the surgery)
I had my consultation 1 week after getting in contact Karidis office, which was great, they first said to me July 16th or something which was over a month, I asked for a earlier date and luckily got a cancellation slot. I went to that last Friday 7th June, and got a slot for surgery straight away for the following week, Thursday the 13th June (tomorrow), 6 days after. I feel like I got very lucky with how quick it's all happening and to be honest I'm barely getting a chance to even think about it as it's happened all so quick.
Consultation with Karidis was fine, as expected from other peoples comments, it was very quick, he shot through all the main points as I guess he has done it so often he knows exactly what main questions people ask, I barely had anything left to ask him after he finished especially as most of the stuff he told me I already know from these forums and other peoples experiences, he inspected my Gyne, said it should flaten up nicely as I have a nice chest underneath (I'm sure he says this to everyone). And that was it, no longer than 10-15mins. Very nice guy though (I would be too if I was doing over 100 surgeries a year for £2000 +. Guy is rolling in it.
The latest updated prices for everything as of June 2013 are as followed:
- Consultation fee: £75 (goes to charity)
- Blood test fee: £146 (if you get it through the hospital, if you have time you can get it through the NHS just go see your doctor)
- Karidis fee: £2940
- Hospital fee: £1483
Total:
£4644If you don't pay Karidis fee in full when booking you have to pay atleast £1000 deposit, obviously if you book with surgery within 1 week from consultation full amount of Karidis is due on that day of booking. Hospital fee can be paid the day before or on the day via telephone. If you book it with weeks until surgery you must pay the hospital fee 5 days before surgery and Karidis fee 15 days before.
Anyway that's it really, I have my op tomorrow so I expect I'll be back on here on Friday with some post-op pics when I have a shower after the first 24hours (I also hope I can make it to the cinema to see Man of Steel on Friday, might try get my best friend to take me if he doesn't have any work on). Below you will see my pre-op pics that I took last week at home (horrible), along with some pictures of Karidis office from when I went to my consultation.
